Teams will get reacquainted with each other in the Class 9A semifinals.

The two semifinal contests in Class 9A are rematches from the regular season, with Philip playing at Wall and Howard playing at Alcester-Hudson. Ironically, both of the regular-season games were on Aug. 22.

No. 1 seeded Wall (10-0) handed No. 4 Philip (8-1) its only loss of the season, a 54-6 decision on Aug. 22 in Philip. The season opener kickstarted a string of 10 straight wins for the Eagles, who have outscored their opponents by 50.8 points per game this season. Wall is scoring 54 points per game, while it is allowing just 3.2 points per game on defense. The Eagles, who have allowed just 32 points this season, have pitched six shutouts in 2025.

Wall defeated Lemmon-McIntosh (55-0) and Castlewood (41-0) through the first two rounds of the playoffs. Against the Warriors, Tanner Volmer rushed for 148 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns. Jace Mohr added 100 total yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Teelan Kjerstad and Kason Barry both intercepted passes.

The Scotties, meanwhile, haven’t lost since their season-opening loss against the Eagles. Philip is scoring 33.9 points per game and is allowing 20.3 points per game on defense. The Scotties have defeated Estelline-Hendricks (36-8) and Ipswich (14-6) in the playoffs.

Against the Tigers, Teagan Gropper rushed for 131 yards on 22 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns. Gropper’s 85-yard touchdown jaunt broke a 6-6 tie, lifting the Scotties to the eight-point win. Gropper added 6.5 tackles on defense.

No. 3 Alcester-Hudson (8-2) knocked off No. 7 Howard (8-2) by a 40-29 decision in the season opener. The Cubs picked up wins over Deubrook Area (36-0) and Platte-Geddes (24-20) in the first two playoff rebounds.

Against the Black Panthers, Alcester-Hudson’s Tommy Walth scored a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

The Cubs are scoring 33.9 points per game, while allowing 19.8 points per game on defense.

The Tigers rattled off six straight wins after their season-opening loss against the Cubs. After a 32-22 setback against Viborg-Hurley in the regular-season finale, Howard defeated Centerville (52-32) and Warner (28-21) in the playoffs.

Against the Monarchs, Kolt Becker rushed for 200 yards on 33 carries and scored two touchdowns. Owen Feldhaus added 62 yards rushing on nine carries and scored a touchdown. Drew Maier added a touchdown pass. Kean Hofer, Becker and Korbin Shumaker each had six tackles.
