Sioux Falls Christian 44, Hamlin 33

SPEARFISH — A balanced scoring attack powered No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian to the State A championship game after beating Hamlin Friday. SFC will face Mahpiya Luta on Saturday at 7:45 p.m., MT, in the championship game.

SFC was led by Lezlei Setzer and Emory Lems. Setzer tallied eight points and 10 rebounds while Lems scored eight points and five rebounds. Katie Vanderleest and Avery Reitz each recorded seven points, combining for seven rebounds, while Ruth Dvoracek tallied six points and four rebounds in the win.

Hamlin’s Paxton and Addison Neuendorf each totaled seven points, combining for nine rebounds, Addie Steffensen recorded six points, while Issie Steffensen added five points in the loss. The Chargers will take on Dakota Valley for third place Saturday at 6 p.m., MT.


Mobridge-Pollock 50, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 40

SPEARFISH — Blake Thompson and Charley Henderson powered Mobridge-Pollock to a Class A girls basketball consolation semifinals win on Friday. Mobridge-Pollock will play Sioux Valley in the consolation championship at 1:45 p.m., MT, Saturday.

Thompson finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Henderson added 11 points and three rebounds. Faith Heil had eight points and five boards. Tegan Konold tallied seven points, six assists and four rebounds. Brooke Bain totaled six points and five rebounds. 

For MVP, Reagan Rus recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds. Taryn Hegg and Layce Bruns scored eight points apiece. Bruns grabbed six rebounds. Madalyn Lorang had six rebounds and four points. MVP will play Wagner in the seventh-place game at noon, MT, Saturday. 


Sioux Valley 56, Wagner 46

SPEARFISH — Keyra Kruse recorded an 18-point double-double as No. 7 Sioux Valley defeated Wagner in Friday’s State A consolation semifinals. The Cossacks will face No. 5 Mobridge-Pollock Saturday at 1:45 p.m., MT, in the consolation championship.

Kruse netted 18 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in the win, Amari Ward tallied 12 points, Talya Vincent recorded 11 points four rebounds, and two assists, Kailey Cradduck added seven points and nine rebounds, while Liberty Trygstad finished with seven points, four rebounds and four assists in the win.

Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal led the Red Raiders with 24 points, five assists and four rebounds, Mateya Bruguier tallied 12 points and three rebounds, while Ravyn Medricky collected six points and six rebounds in the loss. Wagner will face Mt. Vernon-Plankinton Saturday at 12 p.m., MT, in the seventh place game.


Mahpiya Luta 72, Dakota Valley 66

SPEARFISH — Ashlan Carlow-Blount and Jodene Big Crow-Hunter combined for 48 points in No. 3 Mahpiya Luta’s State A semifinal win over No. 2 Dakota Valley Friday. Mahpiya Luta will face No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian in the state championship Saturday at 7:45 p.m., MT.

Carlow-Blount filled up the stat sheet netting 23 points,  17 rebounds and seven assists, three steals and two blocks, Big Crow-Hunter added a game-high 25 points, four rebounds and two steals, Mya Mills recorded 10 points and eight rebounds, while Abigail Haas tallied nine points and five rebounds in the win.

DV’s Aubree Worden collected 23 points, five steals and four rebounds, Cameryn Sommervold tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds, Ella Otten added 14 points and five assists, while Emerson Mead collected eight points and eight rebounds in the loss. The Panthers will face Hamlin for third place Saturday at 6 p.m., MT.
