A pair of former South Dakota girls basketball players recently announced their intentions to transfer to major Division I programs.

St. Thomas More High School graduate Haleigh Timmer announced she will transfer from South Dakota State University to Oklahoma State University. Aberdeen Roncalli High School graduate Madelyn Bragg announced she will transfer from Division II Northern State University to Colorado State University.

Timmer, a 2021 STM graduate, was an honorable mention Summit League performer during her junior season. The 5-foot-11 guard averaged 12.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per conference game. Timmer scored at least eight points in all but one game, shot 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from the free throw line in Summit action. She scored 22 points against Denver on Feb. 27, her season high against a Division I opponent.

Timmer played in 106 games and made 77 starts over three seasons for the Jackrabbits. During that time, she scored 1,155 points while connecting on 47.4 percent of her shots from the floor. Timmer and the Jackrabbits defeated Oklahoma State, 74-68, in the first round of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball tournament this past season.

"Haleigh is a proven winner and a very crucial addition to our roster as we continue to reload our pieces. Her work ethic, team-first attitude and competitive drive make her a great fit into our culture. She is a stingy defender and I love her ability to shoot as well as get downhill offensively," Oklahoma State coach Jacie Hoyt said in a press release.

Bragg, a 2022 Roncalli graduate, was an all-NSIC first-team selection this past season as a junior. Bragg started all 28 regular season games this season, averaging 17.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. She led the team with 503 points scored. The 6-foot-3 center scored the 1,000th point of her Northern State career in early February, ranking top-30 in career scoring at NSU.

"Maddy is a very athletic, tough-minded player who is an inside-outside presence that was very productive at Northern State," Colorado State coach Ryun Williams said in a press release. "There's no doubt she will come in here and be a strong presence for us. She's been well coached, and her size and strength were a focus for us. We expect her to be a very good Ram."

"We've had such a great tradition with outstanding players from the state of South Dakota," Williams added. "From Becky Hammon to Hannah and Emma Ronsiek, Madelyn will continue to carry the South Dakota pipeline to Moby."
