Class A Roundup - Hamlin holds off Elk Point-Jefferson for third-place finish

Hamlin 53, Elk Point-Jefferson 40

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack helped Hamlin earn a win over Elk Point-Jefferson to claim third place at the Class B state tournament Saturday. 

Easton Neuendorf led Hamlin with 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and five steals. Brennan Keszler scored 12 points while Zach VanMeeteren scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds. 

Eason Kempf led EPJ with 19 points and six rebounds. Devon Schmitz finished with seven points while Chace Fornia chipped in with six points. 

 

Dakota Valley 54, Sioux Falls Christian 48

 SIOUX FALLS —  Isaac Bruns and Randy Rosenquist combined to score 40 points as Dakota Valley held off Sioux Falls Christian to claim the Class A state championship Saturday.

Bruns powered Dakota Valley with 22 points and six rebounds. Rosenquist added 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Jaxson Wingert chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.

Ethan Bruns led Sioux Falls Christian with 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Cole Snyder added seven points while Griffen Goodbary and Britton Mulder each scored six points.

Hot Springs 60, Mount Vernon-Plankinton 50

SIOUX FALLS — Three players reached double figures as Hot Springs upended Mount Vernon-Plankinton to claim seventh place at the Class A state tournament Saturday. 

Josh Kleinsasser led the Bison with 21 points and nine rebounds. Matt Close finished with 15 points while Camron Maciejewski added 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Reed Rus powered MVP with 21 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. Mason Hetland added seven points while Zach Baker and Jordan Stoltz each scored seven points for the Bison. 


Sioux Valley 34, St. Thomas More 33

SIOUX FALLS — Two players scored in  double figures as Sioux Valley held off St. Thomas More to earn fifth place at the Class A state tournament. 

Hudsyn Ruesink led the Cossacks with 11 points and six rebounds. Alec Squired had 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. 

Turner Thompson paced St. Thomas More with 10 points. Matthew Larson had six points while Caleb Hollenback and Will Green each had five points for the Cavaliers.
