Class A Roundup - Hamlin uses 28-13 first half to pull away from Sioux Falls Christian

Hamlin 47, Sioux Falls Christian 34

BROOKINGS — Hamlin used a 28-13 first half to pull away from Sioux Falls Christian in the first round of the Class A girls basketball tournament on Thursday evening.

Kami Wadsworth led Hamlin with 21 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, while Ally Abraham scored 16 points and eight rebounds. Brooklyn Brandriet and Zoie Fraser each scored five points.

Sioux Falls Christian was led by Ellie Lems with 13 points, while Kylah vanDonkersgoed scored 12 points and nine rebounds. Moriah Harrison added five points.

Hamlin will play West Central in Friday’s championship semifinals. Sioux Falls Christian will play Dakota Valley in Friday’s consolation semifinals.

 

Wagner 68, Red Cloud 62

BROOKINGS — Trailing 58-46 entering the final quarter the Wagner girls outscored Red Cloud 22-4 to secure a spot in Friday’s Class A semifinals. 

Ashlyn Koupal and Emma Yost scored 17 points to lead the Red Raiders, while Yost added 13 rebounds. Shalayne Nagel added 16 points for Wagner. 

Red Cloud was led by Stevi Fallis with 23 points and Allison Richards had 19 points. Red Cloud led 18-15 after the first quarter and 35-32 at halftime.

Wagner plays St. Thomas More on Friday in the championship semifinals. Red Cloud plays Lakota Tech on Friday in the consolation semifinals.   


St. Thomas More 37, Lakota Tech 35 

BROOKINGS — St. Thomas More held off Lakota Tech Thursday afternoon to advance to play in Friday’s Class A girls semifinals. 

Reese Ross scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead St Thomas More. 

Moriah Morisette led Lakota Tech with 13 points and eight rebounds and Shayla Bravo added 10 points and six rebounds. 

Both teams battled to a 10-10 tie after the first quarter and 23-23 tie at halftime. St. Thomas More held a 29-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter and outscored Lakota Tech 8-7 in the final quarter. 

St. Thomas More will play Wagner in Friday’s semifinals after the Red Raiders defeated Red Cloud 68-62 in Thursday’s earlier game. Lakota Tech plays Red Cloud in Friday’s consolation semifinals. 


West Central 65, Dakota Valley 52

BROOKINGS — West Central held off Dakota Valley in the first round of the Class A girls basketball tournament on Thursday evening.

Tabor Teel and Addy Kramer led the Trojans with 18 points each. Teel also grabbed seven rebounds. Rylee Haldeman scored 17 points and eight rebounds, while Cambell Fischer added six points.

Dakota Valley was led by Rylee Rosenquist and Grace Bass with 16 points apiece, while Rosenquist also had 12 rebounds and seven assists. Peyton Tritz recorded nine points and five rebounds, while Brooke Carlson added seven points.

West Central will play Hamlin in Friday’s championship semifinals. Dakota Valley will play Sioux Falls Christian in Friday’s consolation semifinals.
