Class A SoDak 16 Volleyball Roundup - Rapid City Christian clips Groton Area in five-set match, advances to state tournament

Rapid City Christian 3, Groton Area 2

FORT PIERRE — No. 10 Rapid City Christian hung on to beat Groton Area in a five-set thriller during Tuesday’s Class A SoDak 16 action. The set scores were 25-18, 26-28, 25-21, 20-25 and 15-8.

RCC’s Faith King tallied 17 kills, 41 assists, 20 digs, three blocks and an ace, Chloe Weber had 33 kills, 11 assists, five blocks, 14 digs and two aces, Maddie Altstiel recorded six kills and five digs, May Callaghan had 17 digs and three aces, Paisley Griffith totaled 16 digs, while Maddison Kooiman had nine digs in the win.

GA’s stats were not reported.


Dakota Valley 3, Platte-Geddes 1

CENTERVILLE — Dakota Valley defeated Platte-Geddes in Class A SoDak 16 volleyball action on Tuesday. The set scores were 25-9, 25-8, 23-25 and 25-11.

Dakota Valley’s Claire Munch totaled 21 kills, five digs and one ace. Samantha Kimball recorded 12 kills, six digs and six aces. Aubree Worden recorded four kills and two digs. Taylor Piel posted four kills, while Skylar Anderson had four kills and two aces. Madie Munch posted 46 assists and three aces.

For Platte-Geddes, Kori VanDerWerff recorded 10 kills and five digs. Taylor Schrank posted eight kills. Mallory Gant added five digs. Jerni Severson had two digs and two aces. Claire Maydew totaled two kills and two blocks. Berkley Bloch posted two blocks and one kill.

 

Wagner 3, Winner 1

CHAMBERLAIN — Wagner defeated Winner in four sets during Tuesday’s Class A SoDak 16 volleyball action. The set scores were 25-21, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-13.

Wagner’s Hannah Holzbauer had 16 kills and 21 digs, Ashlyn Koupal tallied 12 kills, Ravyn Medricky 10 kills and 13 digs, Braxton Nedved dished out 15 digs, 34 assists and six aces while Brylie Link had three aces in the win.

Winner’s stats were not reported.


St. Thomas More 3, Miller 1

MURDO — St. Thomas More defeated Miller in Class A SoDak 16 volleyball action on Tuesday. The set scores were 25-23, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-18.

STM stats were not reported.

Miller’s Paige Werdel finished with 13 kills and two aces. Kate Lichty posted six kills and one ace. Kaihlyn Anderberg had 10 kills and 11 digs. Hailey Werdel totaled six kills. Jolie Palmer added 27 digs. Emma Pugh had 20 digs. Gracen Werdel recorded three aces, 13 digs and 38 assists.
