TEA — A strong showing from West Central, qualifying 11 wrestlers for the Class A state meet, helped the Trojans claim Saturday’s 1A wrestling team championship.

West Central scored 223.5 points, ahead of Tea Area (217) and Watertown (174). Brookings (165) and O’Gorman (124.5) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Brandon Klinkhammer (113), Chandler Carda (157) and Chet Carda won individual titles for West Central.

Gage Lohr (120), Sloan Johannsen (126), Brock Eitreim (190) and Micah Hach (285) all won titles for Watertown. 

Austin Eimers (144) and Sam Werdel (175) won championships for Tea Area.

Other region championships were claimed by Brookings athletes Tate Hemboldt (106) and Nolan Miles (132) and Gabriel Stern (165). Madison’s Caleb Hodges (138) and Jefferson’s Ayden Dooley (150)

 Region 3A - Aberdeen Central edges Pierre for Region 3A wrestling title

PIERRE - Behind five region champions and 14 state qualifiers Aberdeen Central won the region 3A wrestling title Saturday.

Aberdeen Central scored 277.5 points, ahead of Pierre (261.5) and Huron (142). Mitchell (137.5) and Milbank (137.5) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Esten Foss (106), Porter Lozenski (120), Rayden Zens (126), Mason Schrempp (157) and Ayden Gisi (215) won region titles for the Golden Eagles.

Alex Oedkoven (132), Tristan Spencer (138), Lucas Chamberlain (165), Trey Lewis (175) and Chance Carda (190) each won individual titles for Pierre. 

Other region titles were claimed by Sisseton’s Kayden Tchida (113), Sisseton’s Holden Hawkins (144), Huron’s Moses Gross (150) and Mitchell’s Rock Clark (285).

Region 4A - Nine region champions propel Sturgis to 4A wrestling title

SPEARFISH — As expected Class A’s No. 1 team Sturgis rolled to a region 4A wrestling title Saturday.

The Scoopers totalled 303 points, well ahead of Rapid City Stevens (224.5) and Rapid CIty Central (208.5). Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood (118) and Spearfish (112) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Teryn Zebroski (113), Tegan Zebroski (126), Beau Peters (138), Joseph Nadig (150), Preston Ray (165), Kelson Dirk (175), Aiden Werlinger (190), Zak Juelfs (215), Dakari Osbrorne (285) all won region titles for the Scoopers.
