Tri-Valley senior Dustin Sees is quick with good hops. Those talents are showing up on the track this spring for the Mustangs. 

Sees has the fourth-best long jump in Class A (21-2) and sixth best in the triple jump (42-7). Seems like Tri-Valley always has good sprint relays and 2023 is no exception. Tri-Valley’s 400-meter relay has Class A’s fourth fastest time (:44.93) with the 800-meter relay team the sixth fastest time (1:35.21). Sees is a member of both of those relay teams. 

MVP’s Reed Rus is one of the best multi-sport athletes in South Dakota. On the track he has Class A’s second highest high jump (6-2), the second fastest 110-meter hurdles time (:15.55) and the sixth fastest 300-meter hurdle time (:43.09). 

The Class A pole vault looks like it could get interesting this season. Junior Aaron Hawkes of Madison has the top height (14-9). Junior Robbie Emery of Custer has jumped 14 feet while Winston Prill of St. Thomas More has jumped 13 feet. 

Keep an eye on Sioux Falls Christian’s Paul Hoekman in the shot put. The Chargers score points all over the track but Hoekman, a sophomore has the second farthest Class A shot put (52-4) and could pick up valuable team points at the state meet.
