Class AA Boys Basketball Roundup - Mitchell holds off Sioux Falls Jefferson in Class AA opener

Mitchell 69, Sioux Falls Jefferson 61

SIOUX FALLS — Four Mitchell players reached double figures in Thursday’s win over Sioux Falls Jefferson in the first round of the Class AA state tournament. 

Markus Talley led Mitchell with 22 points, three rebounds and four assists. Colton Smith finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Gavin Soukup had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Gavin Hinker had 12 points and four assists.

Mason Payne led Sioux Falls Jefferson with 14 points and seven rebounds. Dawson Sechser had 14 points and five rebounds. Tyler Bohannen had 13 points and five rebounds for Jefferson. 


Sioux Falls Washington 52, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 45

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Washington held off Sioux Falls Roosevelt for a Class AA boys basketball tournament win on Thursday.

Washington’s Thomas Hoffman logged 17 points, while Lucas Johnson had 14 points and nine rebounds. Jhace Woods posted 10 points and eight rebounds. Samuel Baskin had nine points and five rebounds.

Roosevelt’s Hayden Hoff finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Naser Ismail had 13 points. Brouwer added six points. 


Harrisburg 71, Watertown 56

SIOUX FALLS — Three players scored in double figures to pace Harrisburg to a Class AA boys basketball tourney win on Thursday.

Harrisburg’s Jacoby Mehrman logged 27 points, while Camden Phipps added 20 points and five rebounds. Maddox Plack logged 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Braeden VanBockern had six points.

Watertown’s Dylon Rawdon posted 21 points and four assists. Kohen Kranz had 17 points, while Caden Beauchamp posted 11 points. Jake Olson scored five points.
