Sioux Falls O’Gorman 69, Sioux Falls Jefferson 42

RAPID CITY — Sydney Terveen’s 17 points powered Class AA No. 1 Sioux Falls O’Gorman past Sioux Falls Jefferson in Thursday’s state quarterfinal action. O’Gorman will face No. 4 Rapid City Stevens tomorrow at 6 p.m., MT, in the state semifinals.

Terveen finished with 17 points, five rebounds and six assists, Julia Eggert tallied 12 points and four rebounds, Ruby Moore added 11 points, six assists and four rebounds, while Tyla Mauney, Sadie Mehrman and Ellie Meyer each had six points in the win.

Jefferson’s Brinley Altenburg tallied a team-high 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, Taylor Silvernail had nine points while Macy Bryant collected six points and three boards in the loss. The Cavaliers will face Spearfish at 12 p.m., MT, Friday in the consolation semifinals.


Rapid City Stevens 53, Spearfish 41

RAPID CITY — Taaliyah Porter’s 24-point double-double powered No. 4 Rapid City Stevens to a State AA quarterfinal victory Thursday. Stevens will face No. 1 O’Gorman Friday at 6 p.m., MT, in the state semifinals.

Porter finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders, Mackenzie Schreiber tallied nine points while Halle Peterson tallied eight points, four rebounds and six assists in the win.

Spearfish’s Jozie Dana tallied 12 points and seven rebounds, Mya Kochuten added eight points, while Kate Scharf totaled seven points in the loss. The Spartans will take on No. 8 Jefferson Friday at 12 p.m., MT, in the consolation semifinals.


Brandon Valley 69, Pierre 36

RAPID CITY — Four players scored in double figures to power Brandon Valley to a Class AA girls basketball win over Pierre on Thursday. Brandon Valley will play Sioux Falls Washington or Mitchell in the championship semifinals on Friday. 

Brandon Valley’s Gracie Salter finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Alyvia Padgett added 16 points and six assists. Amanda Lease recorded 11 points and three rebounds. Ava Kellenberger had 10 points and eight rebounds. London Geiver scored seven points, while Madison Geiver added five points and five rebounds.

For Pierre, Emery Larson finished with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Lennix DuPris added 11 points, four assists and three rebounds. Addison Soma tallied eight points and six rebounds.


Sioux Falls Washington 55, Mitchell 38

RAPID CITY — A trio of scorers reach double figures in No. 3 Sioux Falls Washington’s quarterfinal win over No. 6 Mitchell during Thursday’s quarterfinal action. The Warriors will face No. 2 Brandon Valley Friday at 7:45, MT, in the State AA semifinals.

Dana Harpe and Grace Peterson led Washington with 11 points, combining for 13 rebounds, including five assists from Harpe. Rylan Kennett recorded 10 points while Josie Biteler totaled eight points in the win.

Mitchell’s Lauren Van Overschelde led the Kernels with 12 points and four rebounds, Addie Siemsen totaled seven points and four rebounds, while Londyn Hajek and Carsyn Weich each had six points in the loss, including five assists from Weich. The Kernels will face No. 7 Pierre at 1:45 p.m., MT, Friday in the consolation semifinals.
