Class AA Girls Roundup - O’Gorman holds off Mitchell, advances to semifinals

O’Gorman 55, Mitchell 44

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to pace O’Gorman to a Class AA girls basketball tournament win on Thursday. 

O’Gorman’s Sydney Terveen totaled 18 points and 10 boards. Ruby Moore recorded 18 points and six steals. Sadie Mehrman had 11 points and six rebounds. 

For Mitchell, Addie Siemsen finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Nia Talley and CeCe Morgan scored nine points apiece. Morgan added seven rebounds. Londyn Hajek scored eight points. 


Brandon Valley 78, Tea Area 53

RAPID CITY — No. 1 seed Brandon Valley rolled past No. 8 Tea Area at the Class AA girls basketball tournament on Thursday. 

BV’s Alyvia Padgett recorded 36 points, six assists and five rebounds. London Geiver totaled 18 points and three rebounds. Ava Kellenberger and Gracie Salter scored 12 points apiece. Salter added seven rebounds. 

For Tea Area, Anna Binde totaled 13 points. Emma Lingren added 11 points and Jayna VanLaecken netted 10 points. Ellie Clayberg scored six points. 


Aberdeen Central 53, Rapid City Stevens 42

RAPID CITY — Taryn Hermansen’s 16-point double-double guided Aberdeen Central over Rapid City Stevens in the opening round of the Class AA state girls basketball tournament Thursday.

Hermansen finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds in the win, Lauryn Burckhard added 13 points, seven boards and four assists, Ava Yeske had nine points while Kamdyn Borge totaled six points in the win.

For RCS, Hayden Thorton, Finley Love and Haley Falcon each had nine points, Mackenzie Schreiber added eight points and three boards while Marley Seumanutafa had six points and 13 boards in the loss.

Sioux Falls Washington 66, Sioux Falls Jefferson 44

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Washington knocked off Sioux Falls Jefferson in Class AA girls basketball tournament action on Thursday.

Washington’s Dana Harpe finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Josie Biteler added 11 points.

For Jefferson, Brinley Altenburg recorded 24 points and 10 boards. Abby Horner scored 11 points.
