Class B Girls Roundup - Centerville clips Lyman for championship game berth
The Centerville girls post their team name into the championship bracket after defeating the Lyman Raiders in the semifinals in the girls Class B state tournament on Friday at Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City.

Centerville 52, Lyman 45

RAPID CITY — A balanced scoring attack and a late run propelled Centerville past Lyman and into Saturday’s Class B championship game where the Tornadoes will face Arlington. 

Althea Gust hit a pair of 3-pointers and led Centerville with 14 points and five assists. Emma Marshall added 14 points and three rebounds. Keira Austin and Lillie Eide each had eight points for Centerville. 

Jordyn Scott paced Lyman with 13 points and two rebounds. Skyler Volmer finished with nine points, two rebounds and two assists and Mak Scott chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds. 


Harding County 62, Warner 57 (OT)

RAPID CITY — A balanced scoring attack and making 22 free throws pushed Harding County past Warner in consolation action Friday from the Class B girls state basketball tournament. 

Bailey Verhulst led Harding County with 17 points, three rebounds and three assists. Claire Verhulst made four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, four rebounds and three steals. Kayden Padden had 14 points and Jaylen Wendt had nine points for the Ranchers. 

Kyra Marcunson led Warner with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Ava Nilsson and Sophia Hoest each had 12 points for Warner with Kyleigh Schopp grabbing nine rebounds. 


Wall 62, James Valley Christian 59

RAPID CITY — A balanced scoring attack pushed Wall past James Valley Christian in consolation action Friday at the Class B state basketball tournament. 

Paige Kjerstad led the Eagles with 20 and seven rebounds. Alexix Stephan added 12 points, two rebounds and two assists. Rhea Tucker chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. 

Alexa Goertz led James Valley Christian with 13 points and seven rebounds. Addison Bartholow added 11 points and six rebounds and Rhayonna Hood finished with 10 points, three rebounds and four assists.
