Madison/Chester 3, Winner/Colome 2

BROOKINGS — Cale Johnson’s walk-off single lifted Madison/Chester over Winner/Colome in Class B state quarterfinal action on Monday. The Bulldogs will play Dakota Valley at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the state semifinals.

Oakley Mees and Nolan Fischer each added an RBI on one hit while Braylon Oftedal added two hits in the win. JD Prorok earned the win on the mound in a complete game outing, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out 11 batters.

For WC, Zac Olson suffered the loss, allowing one unearned run on two hits in 1.1 innings.

Camdyn Anderson had two hits, a double, and an RBI while Quincy Phillips added an RBI-single in the loss.

Clark Area 4, West Central 2

BROOKINGS — A three-run seventh inning lifted Clark Area to an upset win over top-seeded West Central in Class B state quarterfinal action on Monday. Clark Area will play Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake at 10 a.m. in the state semifinals.

Watson Grantham earned the win on the mound in a complete game outing, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk, striking out nine.

Damian Severson had two hits, a walk and two RBIs, Jakob Steen added an RBI on one hit while Cooper Pommer, Grantham and Jax Tharaldsen each had a hit in the win.

For WC, CJ DenBoer allowed three runs on one hit and one walk in one inning to take the loss.

Beckett Everson drove in two runs on one hit while Zach Lorang and Hayden Whiting each had a hit in the loss.

Dakota Valley 4, Lennox 3

BROOKINGS — Sterling Schauff struck out seven batters and drove in two runs as No. 6 Dakota Valley upset No. 3 Lennox in Class B state quarterfinal action on Monday. Dakota Valley will play Madison at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the state semifinals.

Schauff took the win on the mound in five innings pitched, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks, striking out seven in the win. Schauff also batted 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Panthers.

Jake Pick added two hits, Jack Wiese had an RBI on one hit while Vincent Hoffman drove in a run as well.

For Lennox, Mason Reischl suffered the loss in 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out seven.

Reischl drove in two runs on two hits while Talen Eich added an RBI on a double and a walk in the loss.

Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake 4, Vermillion 3

BROOKINGS — A four-run sixth inning surged Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake past Vermillion in the Class B state quarterfinals on Monday. The Honkers will play Clark Area on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Hayes DeVries led the offense with two RBIs on one hit, Isaac Leader had an RBI-walk, Kenyon Kuiper tallied an RBI-single while Jye Bailey had two hits in the win.

Keaton Christensen earned the victory on the mound in six innings of work, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, striking out five.

For Vermillion, Nolan Nygren surrendered the loss in seven innings pitched, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks, striking out five.

Ryan Vitt had two hits and two RBIs, Corbin Heckens added two hits and an RBI while Trey Hansen collected two hits in the loss.
