Class B State Baseball Roundup - Dell Rapids advances with win over Madison

Dell Rapids 9, Madison 1 

SIOUX FALLS — Dell Rapids took advantage of a 30-minute lighting delay to curse to Tuesday’s semifinals with a win over Madison in the final game of the opening round of the Class B State Baseball Tournament on Monday. 

Leading 3-1 when play was suspended with one out in the top of the fifth inning, the Quarriers responded in the bottom half of the inning with six runs to take a 9-1 lead. 

Treyse Eastman led Dell Rapids at the plate with two hits including a double and drove in two runs. Tad Tjaden picked up the win, pitching a complete game, giving up one run on four hits. He struck three and walked four. 

Hayden Kane led Madison at the plate with a hit and and RBI. 

Lucas Mork took the loss, pitching four innings, giving up six runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked four. 

Dell Rapids will advance to play Bon Homme in Tuesday afternoon’s second game.  

Bon Homme 10, Rapid City Christian 1 

SIOUX FALLS — Bon Homme jumped out to a 8-0 lead after three innings to rolled to a 10-1 win over Rapid City Christian in Monday nights opening game.

Jackson Caba, Brady Bierema and Landon Bares led the Cavaliers at the plate with extra base hits while Bares drove in three runs. 

Landon Smith started the game — pitching two innings while giving up one run and striking out two. He was relieved by Easton Mudder who pitched the final five innings, giving up a run on six hits. He walked two and struck out two. 

Leighton Weasel led the Comets at the plate with a double in the seventh.  

Tea Area 11, Redfield 1 

SIOUX FALLS — Tea jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and cursed to a 11-1 win over Redfield in the opening round of the Class B State Baseball tournament on Monday. 

Logan Boom led the Titans with three hits including a triple and drove in three runs while Carter Turek added a double. 

Nathan Babb picked up the win — pitching 5 2/3 innings while giving up one run on six hits. He struck out five and walked two. 

Mason Whitley led Redfield at the plate with two hits while Kevin Weller drove in the only run for the Muskrats. 

Dakota Valley 11, Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake 1  

SIOUX FALLS — Jake Pruchniak and Jackson Boonstra each hit a home run to lead Dakota Valley past PG-DC/WL on Monday afternoon.

Pruchniak ended the afternoon with two hits and drove in two runs while Boonstra was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. 

Garret Anderson picked up the win after coming in for relief for Pruchniak in the third inning. Anderson game up one run on four hits, while striking out six and walking two. 

Joey Foxley led the Honkers with two hits while Jaxon Christensen added a pair of hits. 

Dakota Valley will play Dakota Valley in the first game on Tuesday.
