Class B Volleyball Roundup - Chester earns sweep over Herreid/Selby Area in opening round, plays Bennett County in semifinals

Chester 3, Herreid/Selby Area 0

RAPID CITY — Chester swept Herreid/Selby Area in Class B first-round volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-12, 25-18 and 25-13. 

Chester’s Emmerson Eppard totaled two blocks, 11 kills and nine digs. Jacy Wolf recorded two blocks, 13 assists, 10 kills and 13 digs. Lily Van Hal added two blocks, six kills, 19 assists and 12 digs. Katelyn Schut recorded five kills and one block. 

For HSA, Jordyn Rossow recorded 11 kills and four digs. Breanna Jochim posted seven kills and five digs. Katie Allbee totaled 20 assists and six digs. Rossow and Jessie Johnson had two blocks apiece. Alyssa Kaup posted 18 digs. 


Bennett County 3, Parkston 1

RAPID CITY — Bennett County swept Parkston in four sets at the Class B volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-18, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-21. 

Bennett County’s Reagan O’Neill totaled 21 kills and 20 digs. Peyson O’Neill added 19 kills, 13 digs and six blocks. Macy Claussen totaled 48 assists. Harley Harris totaled 23 of the team’s 97 digs.

For Parkston, Keeara Oakley finished with 22 kills and 18 digs. Berkley Ziebart added 16 kills and 11 digs. Finley Bogenreif added 40 assists.  


Northwestern 3, Gayville-Volin 2

RAPID CITY — No. 2 Northwestern avoided an upset bid, defeating Gayville-Volin in a five-set thriller in the Class B volleyball quarterfinals.The set scores were 22-25, 25-12, 25-22, 18-25 and 15-10.

Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide had 43 assists with 20 digs, four blocks and three kills, Ashley Haven ended the game with 25 kills, 24 digs and eight blocks, Breelyn Satter added nine kills, six blocks and three digs, Lila Johnson recorded seven kills, 19 digs and two blocks, Breanna Halverson netted five aces while Kylee Henjum finished with nine blocks and four kills in the win.

GV’s Maia Achen finished with 14 kills and 23 digs, Paisley Dimmer had 13 kills and 22 digs, Jolie and Aliza Westrum each tallied eight kills with a combined 42 digs. Taylor Hoxeng had 28 digs and six assists while Kendra Beeck dished out 39 assists and 20 digs in the loss.
