There’s plenty of familiar faces on this year’s Class A girls basketball all-state team, as chosen by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

The six-player first team features five players making repeat selections, while some are making multiple appearances as all-staters.

Dakota Valley’s Rylee Rosenquist, Hamlin’s Kami Wadsworth, Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Emilee Fox, Winner’s Bella Swedlund, St. Thomas More’s Reese Ross and Tea Area’s Katie Vasecka were first-team selections.

Rosenquist, who is making her third all-state team, is the Class A Player of the Year after powering the Panthers to a sixth-place finish at state. She was a first-team honoree last season and a third-team selection as a sophomore. A 5-foot-8 guard, Rosenquist averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game for Dakota Valley. Rosenquist, who will play basketball next season at Dakota Wesleyan University, finished her career with 1,837 points, 918 rebounds, 358 assists, 304 steals, 73 3-pointers and 19 blocked shots.

Wadsworth, a 5-foot-10 junior forward, was selected to her second straight all-state team. She guided the Chargers to their second straight runner-up finish, averaging 21.6 points and six rebounds per game this season. She was a second-team honoree as a sophomore.

Fox is one of two sophomores on the first team and she’s making her third straight all-state team. Fox, a 5-foot-8 guard committed to South Dakota State University, is already MVP’s all-time leading scorer with more than 1,300 career points. This season, she posted 19 points, six rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

Swedlund caps her decorated Winner career with her fourth consecutive all-state selection. She’s making third straight first-team selection and was a second-team honoree in 2019. She finished as the state’s 15th all-time leading scorer with 2,256 career points. A 5-foot-8 guard, Swedlund averaged 22.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for the Warriors. A three-star prospect by HoopGurlz, Swedlund will play basketball at the University of Kansas.

A 6-foot junior forward, Ross is making her all-state debut after leading the Cavaliers to their seventh state championship since 2012. This season, Ross logged 18.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She earned all-tourney honors and scored a team-high 25 points in the championship win over Hamlin.

Vasecka, the other sophomore on the first team, was a second-team selection last season. Vasecka powered the Titans with 19.1 points and eight rebounds per game, while stuffing 42 shots. She’s already committed to South Dakota State University.

West Central’s Rylee Haldeman, Wagner’s Emma Yost, Flandreau’s Claire Sheppard, Rapid City Christian’s Olivia Kieffer, Red Cloud’s Stevi Fallis and Florence/Henry’s Caylin Kelly are second-team selections.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Kylah vanDonkersgoed, Lakota Tech’s Tobi Carlow, Chamberlain’s Mya Knippling, West Central’s Addy Kramer, Red Cloud’s Allison Richards and Todd County’s Bailey White Hat make up the third team.
