Cheyenne-Eagle Butte def. Crow Creek, 85-83 2 OT

It took two overtimes but Cheyenne Eagle Butte earned an 85-83 win during Challenge Day at the Lakota Nation Invitational.

Rance Harrison scorched the nets for 43 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists. Teysean Eagle Staff finished with 21 points and eight rebounds. Kanon Keckler earned a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. 

Stats for Crow Creek were not available by press time. 


Lower Brule 73, Custer 58

After falling behind early Lower Brule erupted with a big second half to earn a win Wednesday at the Lakota Nation Invitational. 

Ellwyn Langdeau led the Sioux with 19 points. Brian LaRoche Jr. and Keyshaume Thigh both recorded 18 points with Lane Grey added 12 points 

Custer’s Gage Tennyson led all scorers with 30 points. 


Todd County JV 75, Takini 12

Four players reached double figures as the Todd County junior varsity boys opened  their Lakota Nation Invitational with a win over Takini. 

Ty Valandra and Spencer Bear Heels led the Falcons with 18 points. Wakinyan Selwyn added 14 points with Wakan Two Strike adding 13 points. 

Takini was led in scoring by Ricahrd Hale III who finished with six points. 


Santee 87, Tiospaye Topa 29

Three players reached double figures as Santee opened their 2021 Lakota Nation Invitational with a win.

Austyn Saul led all scorers with 25 points while adding six rebounds. Justus Denney added 15 points with Nunpa Torrez adding 13 points. 

Manual Swan III scored 14 points and pulled down four rebounds for Tiospaye Topa.


Crazy Horse 75, Dupree 17

The Crazy Horse Chiefs earned an impressive win Wednesday at the Lakota Nation Invitational. 

Jaysen Meeter led all scorers with 32 points while adding seven rebounds. Brian Yellow Elk and Kris Meeter each scored ten points for Crazy Horse. 

Bobby Brewer led Dupree with six points and five rebounds. 


Little Wound 59, St. Francis Indian 23

The Jay Jacobs coached Mustangs from Little Wound used their height advantage to earn a win Wednesday at the Lakota Nation Invitational. 

No stats were reported for Little Wound. 

Blaine Lewis led St. Francis Indian with ten points. Willard Henry Jr. led the Warriors with eight rebounds. 


Rapid City Christian 77, Marty Indian 18

After trailing early Rapid City Christian pulled ahead in the second half for a comfortable win Wednesday at the Lakota Nation Invitational. 

Rapid City Christian’s offense was led by a pair of players in double figures. Sam Fisher scored 20 points for the Comets and teammate Jackson DiBona added 18 to that tally.

Marty was led by Lawerence Rouse and Elijah Walker with 9 points.


Tiospa Zina 78, Wakpala 29

Tiopsa Zina jumped out to an early lead Wednesday afternoon in the Barnett Center and never looked back, earning a win on Challenge Day. 

The Wambdi were led by a quartet of athletes in double figure. Top scorer of the afternoon was Juron Adams with 15. The others in double figures include: CJ Bissonette with 12, Mike Smith with 10, and Perry Lufkins with 10.

Wakpala was led in scoring by Mikal Flying Bye with 8 points.
