BROOKINGS — Four players scored in double figures as Madison survived Elkton-Lake Benton in an overtime contest during Wednesday’s Michael J. Entringer Classic.

Henry Veenhof led the Bulldogs with 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Shane Veenhof added 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals, Casyn Crabtree had 14 points, Nolan Nielsen netted 12 points and 122 rebounds while Brody Cummins had nine points and five boards in the win.

For ELB, Colt Beck had 18 points, Joseph Nibbe added 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals, Myles Poindexter netted 11 points and five rebounds while Ethan Wiskur had 10 points and three steals in the loss.

Castlewood 64, Dell Rapids 59

BROOKINGS — Three players scored in double figures to power Class B No. 1 Castlewood to a boys basketball win at Wednesday’s Michael J. Entringer Classic. 

Kamden Keszler finished with 17 points, six rebounds and three 3-pointers. Brody Bass added 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three 3-pointers. Leonard Wernke totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds. Trevor Everson had eight points, while Tyson Manley added five points and five rebounds.

For Dell Rapids, Camden Jones finished with 15 points and four rebounds. Andrew Schoeberl tallied nine points and six rebounds. Jackson Peppel had eight points and five rebounds. Lincoln Anderson finished with seven points. Jace Brende added six points and six rebounds. Kaden Smith recorded six points. Karson Paye tallied five points and seven assists.

Hamlin 65, Dell Rapids St. Mary 31

BROOKINGS — Jackson Wadsworth’s 20-point effort lifted Class A No. 10 Hamlin over Class B No. 2 Dell Rapids St. Mary to close out Wednesday’s Michael J. Entringer Classic.

Wadsworth finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the win, Boden Stevenson added 13 points, six rebounds, eight assists and four steals, Jaden Olsen had eight points and three rebounds, Owen Taschner added eight points while Aiden Abraham had nine points and five rebounds in the win.

For St. Mary, Peyton Lamb led with nine points, Isaac Griffin had eight points while Trimmier Hanson poured in seven points in the loss.

De Smet 58, Baltic 48

BROOKINGS — Grant Wilkinson’s had 26 points and 22 rebounds as Class B No. 4 De Smet outlasted Baltic in boys basketball action at the Michael J. Entringer Classic Wednesday.

Wilkinson finished with 26 points and a Michael J. Entringer Classic record 22 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs, Noah Luethmers added 15 points, Carter Wilkinson totaled nine points and six rebounds while Slayten Wilkinson netted eight points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win.

For Baltic, Dylan Runestad tallied 17 points and four rebounds, Cooper Garry added 11 points, Ben Erickson had eight points while Kellen Artz scored seven points and three rebounds in the loss.

Deubrook Area 58, Waverly-South Shore 36

BROOKINGS — Three players scored in double figures to power Deubrook Area to a boys basketball victory at Wednesday’s Michael J. Entringer Classic.

Deubrook Area’s Chance Schoenfeld finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Charlie Olsen added 12 points, while Braxton Bednarek had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. Austin Kjelden added six points, while Carter Schulte posted five points and three rebounds.

For WSS, Kyle Kneeland recorded 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Spencer Ries finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Austin Hovitek posted eight points and four rebounds. 

Sioux Valley 77, Iroquois/Lake Preston 51

BROOKINGS — Three players scored in double figures to pace Sioux Valley to a boys basketball win at Wednesday’s Michael J. Entringer Classic. 

SV’s Brady Hiltunen finished with 22 points and five 3-pointers. Connor Relf added 15 points and hit three 3-pointers. Broden Teske had 12 points and Holdyn Ruesink totaled nine points.

For ILP, Lucas Peskey recorded 16 points and Ervin Carter added 10 points. Rexton Blue had eight points and Carter Arbeiter posted six points. Brycen Blue recorded five points. 

Colman-Egan 52, Arlington 35

BROOKINGS — Caden Zwart and Julian Allen combined for 35 points to power Colman-Egan to a boys basketball win at Wednesday’s Michael J. Entringer Classic. 

Zwart finished with 19 points and Allen added 14 points. Rowdy Bowen scored nine points. 

For Arlington, Paxton Rheault and Trysten Huntimer scored eight points apiece. Miles Antonen had seven points. Jake Burns added five points. 

Dec. 31 Girls Basketball Roundup

Wagner 61, Winner 24

WINNER — Ashlyn Koupal powered Class A No. 9 Wagner to a girls basketball win over Winner on Wednesday.

Koupal finished with 42 points, 14 rebounds, seven blocks, five steals and four assists. Hannah Holzbauer totaled 10 points. Braxton Nedved added five points and four assists. 

For Winner, Payton Sargent finished with eight points and seven rebounds. Livvy Audiss and Kylie Sachtjen scored five points apiece. Lilly Barfuss added six rebounds.
