Dec. 8 Boys Basketball Roundup - Dell Rapids outlasts West Central in overtime contest

Dell Rapids 61, West Central 59 (OT) 

HARTFORD — Class A No. 5 Dell Rapids clipped West Central in an overtime boys basketball game on Friday. 

Dell Rapids’ Tad Tjaden tossed in 28 points and Carson Maeschen scored 23 points. 

For West Central, Jake Kuhl tallied 16 points and six rebounds. Connor Mebius added 13 points and five assists. Will Kuhl scored eight points and five rebounds. Brodie Herr added seven points, six rebounds and five assists. 


White River 54, Jones County 43

WHITE RIVER — Three players scored in double figures as White River picked up a boys basketball win on Friday. 

White River’s Nic Marshall finished with 15 points, five assists, three steals and four rebounds. Ray Crow had 14 points, while Evastine Wright had 10 points and six rebounds. Jordan Uhlir had eight points and seven rebounds. Mackenzie Wike scored five points. Teagen Bouman had two points and seven rebounds. 

For Jones County, Cooper Fedderson logged 19 points and 17 boards. Bryer Kinsley had eight points and Kaden Kinsley finished with six points. Gunnar Whitney had five rebounds. 


Castlewood 65, Waubay-Summit 51

SUMMIT — Class B No. 2 Castlewood picked up a boys basketball win over Waubay-Summit on Friday.

Castlewood’s Bryon Laue erupted for 15 points and 26 rebounds. Lane Tvedt added 18 points and dished out six assists. Jamison Keszler had 13 points. Luke Baumberger logged seven points and Brody Bass had five points. 

Waubay-Summit’s Jackson Wohlleber had 24 points and Dylan Rumpza had 11 points. Tigh Gaikowski had six points. 


Winner 52, Wagner 46

WINNER — Three players scored in double figures to pace Winner to a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Winner’s Shawn Hammerbeck and Carter Craven finished with 14 points and seven rebounds apiece. Aiden Barfuss had 12 points and four steals. Zac Olson had six points. 

For Wagner, Preston McFayden had 14 points and Petry posted 10 points. Joey Cournoyer had seven points, while Carter Cournoyer scored six points. Jesse Zephier had seven points. 


Dakota Valley 68, Tea Area 56

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Jaxson Wingert and Luke Bruns combined for 52 points as Class A No. 3 Dakota Valley defeated Tea Area Friday, extending their current winning streak to 54 games. 

Wingert led all scorers with 28 points while adding 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Bruns had 24 points to go along with five rebounds and an assist. Charlie Margeas finished with three points, two rebounds and two assists. 

Sam Almas paced Tea Area with 30 points and two rebounds. Jessen Wiebenga finished with 16 points and six rebounds. Marshall Smythe added five points for Tea Area. 


Flandreau 57, Chester Area 38

CHESTER — Two players reached double-figures as Flandreau opened their season with a win over Chester Area on Friday.

Sophomore Luke Sheppard powered the Fliers with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Kaden Bursheim, also a sophomore, pumped in 15 points for Flandreau.

Jovi Wolf led Chester Area with 11 points and five rebounds. Brayden Schut added nine points for Chester Area. JD Prorock and Garrett Hansen each had five rebounds for Chester Area while Prorock led with three assists.  


Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 79, Crazy Horse 60 

EAGLE BUTTE — Four players scored in double figures to pace Cheyenne-Eagle Butte to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Dayson Kennedy finished with 15 points, while Damien Clown netted 14 points. Braxton Kennedy scored 13 points and Nehemiah Veaux added 11 points. Easton Lawrence had nine points and Danah Diver scored six points. Levi Elk Nation scored four points. 

For Crazy Horse, Donnie Ghost Dog scored 21 points. Devaughn Between Lodges scored 18 points and Noah Iron Horse had 14 points. 


Hamlin 68, Groton Area 36

GROTON — Class A No. 2 Hamlin picked up a boys basketball win over Groton Area on Friday.

Easton Neuendorf finished with a game-high 23 points, while Tyson Stevenson had 11 points. Evan Stormo scored eight points. Jackson Wadsworth and Dawson Noem had six points apiece.

For Groton Area, Lane Tietz finished with 17 points. Ryder Johnson added six points. 


Mitchell 60, Huron 48 

HURON — Three players scored in double figures to pace Class AA No. 4 Mitchell to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Colton Smith finished with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. Markus Talley added 17 points, four assists and four rebounds. Gavin Soukup logged 16 points, three assists, three rebounds and three 3-pointers. Gavin Hinker collected seven rebounds and Sutton Thompson had seven rebounds. 

For Huron, Blake Ellwein logged 13 points and six rebounds. C.J. Gainey and Anderson Porisch scored 11 points apiece. Porisch had seven rebounds. Gavin Moeding logged five points. 


Viborg-Hurley 64, Freeman 35

VIBORG — Class B No. 4 Viborg-Hurley pulled away from Freeman for a boys basketball win on Friday.

Nick Hanson led the Cougars with 24 points, while Bryson Morrison had 14 points. Brady Schroedermeier had eight points and three assists.

Freeman stats were not reported. 


Canistota 56, Centerville 41

CENTERVILLE — Canistota picked up a boys basketball win over Centerville on Friday.

Canistota’s Brady Smith finished with 18 points, six assists and six rebounds. Tage Ortman and Brandon Kjetland had 16 points apiece. Ortman had seven assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Kjetland had seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Cayden Scott collected eight rebounds. 

For Centerville, Aiden Bobzin scored 18 points. Brennan Tople scored six points. Miles Eide and Alec Austin scored five points apiece. 


Colman-Egan 64, Arlington 52

ARLINGTON — Three players scored in double figures to pace Colman-Egan to a boys basketball win over Arlington on Friday.

Colman-Egan’s Jase Mousel recorded 22 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Jackson Zwart had 16 points and seven rebounds. Jack Mousel logged 15 points and seven rebounds. Christopher Lee had eight points and four rebounds. 

For Arlington, Miles Antonsen had 16 points and seven rebounds. Paxton Rheault had 12 rebounds and nine points. Riley Miller and Kaden Steffensen had seven points apiece. Blake Madsen posted five rebounds and four points. 

 

Baltic 74, Beresford 38

BERESFORD — Beresford picked up a boys basketball win over Baltic on Friday.

Baltic's Jack Erickson logged 34 points. Blake Hookie had 11 points and Mark Ditter scored 10 points. 

Beresford’s Jon DeLay and Malachi James scored 12 points apiece.

 

Iroquois-Lake Preston 64, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 48

IROQUOIS — Three players reached double-figures Friday as Iroquois-Lake Preston earned a boys basketball win over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland. 

Josh McMasters paced the Sharks with 16 points. Weston Woodcock scored 13 points while Rexton Blue finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Lucas Peskey added six rebounds for the Sharks. 

Boyd Pooler and Caden Hojer each scored 18 points to lead Oldham-Ramona-Rutland. Brayden Hanson scored six points while Brodie Albertson and Cooper Meranged had two points. 


Aberdeen Central 53, Rapid City Central 40

RAPID CITY — Aberdeen Central pulled away from Rapid City Central for a boys basketball win on Friday.

Aberdeen Central’s Jett Carlson finished with 13 points and four rebounds. Cam Olson added 11 points. Brendan Phillips and Oliver Rife scored seven points apiece. Parker Lemer had eight points and seven rebounds.

For Rapid City Central, Isaiah Whiting had 13 points and five rebounds. Jet Janvrin had 11 points and four rebounds. Ryan Wetch posted six points, while Colton Carlson had five points. 


Sioux Falls Lincoln 61, Sioux Falls Washington 32

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Lincoln pulled away from Sioux Falls Washington for a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Garry Crowe finished with 15 points. Edison Noll and Braxton Mohr scored 10 points apiece. Moth added five rebounds. Tate Schafer scored nine points, all on 3-pointers. Jack Smith collected five boards. 

For Sioux Falls Washington, Lucas Johnson finished with 13 points. Jhace Woods added nine points.
