Dell Rapids' Rorie Thoreson, West Central's Peyton Tetzlaff win titles at Jesse James Invitational

GARRETSON — Dell Rapids’ Rorie Thoreson and West Central’s Peyton Tetzlaff captured individual titles at Tuesday’s Jesse James Invitational.

Thoreson covered the 5,000-meter distance at River Ridge Golf Course in 19 minutes and :36.72 seconds, edging West Central’s Brooklyn Sundermann (19:36.93). Clark/Willow Lake’s Kamryn Nesheim (20:15.45) and Southwest Minnesota Christian, Minnesota’s Hannah Masselink finished third and fourth, respectively. West Central’s Sarah Johnson (20:35.21) finished in fifth place. 

Tetzlaff won the boys 5,000-meter run in 16:41.51, finishing ahead of Madison’s Dylan Gerde (16:57.98) and Garretson’s Carter Siemonsma (17:52.63). Tri-Valley’s Jaxton Rinehart (18:02.13) and Southwest Minnesota Christian, Minnesota’s Jonah Uilik finished fourth and fifth, respectively. 

In the girls team standings, Clark/Willow Lake and West Central tied for first place with 25 points apiece. Dell Rapids (45), St. Mary’s (61) and Tri-Valley (99) rounded out the top-five teams.

In the boys team standings, Beresford (29) edged Garretson (36) for the title. Madison (53), Dell Rapids (74) and Flandreau (80) rounded out the top-five teams.
