Dell Rapids defeats Dakota Valley for Class B championship in 11-inning thriller

SIOUX FALLS — Dell Rapids scored six runs in the top of the 11th inning to break a 5-5 tie and claim the Class B high school baseball championship, 11-5, on Wednesday. This is Dell Rapids second straight Class B championship and they finish the season 18-2.

Brayden Pankonen took the win for Dell Rapids, pitching 8 â…“ innings, allowing six hits and zero runs while striking out ten and walking one. Landon Ruesink threw one inning in relief. Treyse Eastman started the game for Dell Rapids, allowing three hits and five runs in 1 â…” innings and striking out one.

Dell Rapids tallied 13 hits, with Dylan Mathis leading the way with four hits in six at bats. Jack Henry, Aiden Boechler, and Will Jaton each collected two hits. Boechler drove in three runs, while Henry and Brayden Pankonen each drove in two. 

Isaac Bruns took the loss for Dakota Valley, giving up six runs on six hits in three innings, while striking out two and walking zero. Beau Pollema started the game for Dakota Valley, giving up five runs on seven hits in 7 â…” innings, while striking out three.

Dakota Valley tallied nine hits, with Jaxon Hennies leading with three hits in five at bats. Garrett Anderson and Randy Rosenquist each recorded two hits. Rosenquist drove in three runs.

Dakota Valley finishes its season 15-3.
