WEBSTER — Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide and Nathan Melius each won individual races at Wednesday’s Region 1B cross-country meet run at the Webster Golf Course. Boekelheide ran the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes and :24.94 seconds, ahead of Warner’s Kennadee Wagner (20:212) and Frederick Area’s Morgan Sumption (20:25). James Valley Christian’s Hadasah Olson (20:51) and Ipswich’s Madisyn Gellhaus (21:08) rounded out the top-five girls finishers.

Melius ran his 5,000-meter race in 17:46, ahead of Deubrook Area’s Landen Johnson (18:07) and Frederick Area’s Milo Sumption (18:07). Ipswich’s Xavier Kadlec (18:25) and Faulkton Area’s Korbin Faulk (18:34) rounded out the top-five finishers.

A very tight girls team finish with Frederick Area and Northwestern both scoring 26 points with the team title going to Frederick Area on a tiebreaker. Warner and James Valley Christian both scored 29 points with the automatic state qualifying bid going to Warner. Ipswich (32), Faulkton Area (38) and Deubrook Area (55) rounded out the top-seven finishers.

Northwestern won the Region 1B team title scoring 19 points, ahead of Deubrook Area (23) and Fedederick Area (27). Faulkton Area (32) and Ipswich (54) rounded out the top-five boys teams.
