Faulkton Area's Spencer Melius claims two first-place finishes at North Central Invitational

EUREKA — Faulkton Area’s Spencer Melius was a double-winner at Tuesday’s North Central Invitational.

Melius claimed first-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.15) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.71). Melius added a second-place finish in the javelin (140-3), finishing behind teammate Weston Senn (146-8.5). 

Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich won the 400-meter dash (:52.05) and Maxwell Kulesa won the 800-meter run (2:14.80). Hettich, Kulesa, Brody Davis and Casey Geditz teamed up to win the 1,600-meter relay (3:40.92). 

Warner’s Chays Mansfield won the pole vault (11-0) and Aberdeen Christian’s Dylan Hofer claimed the triple jump (39-5.75). 

The Timber Lake quartet of Gavin Farlee, Holden Gill, Eddie Keller and Cole Ducheneaux won the 800-meter relay (1:37.60).

McLaughlin edged North Central (3:57.09 to 3:37.35) to win the sprint medley relay. 

In girls action, Herreid/Selby Area’s Breanna Jochim was a double winner in the 100-meter dash (:12.83) and 200-meter dash (:26.90). She was also on HSA’s second place sprint medley relay team (4:36.29). 

Potter County’s Dannika Kaup won the 300-meter hurdles (:49.48) and was on the winning 3,200-meter relay (10:19.37) and sprint medley relay (4:29.80). 

Ipswich’s Isabella Henderson won the 400-meter dash (1:03.94) and teammate Madisyn Gellhaus claimed the 3,200-meter run (12:31.57). 

Mobridge-Pollock’s Quinn Kemnitz won the 800-meter run (2:43.34) and teammate Faith Heil won the 1,600-meter run (5:44.61). 

Faulkton Area’s Presleigh Martinmaas edged teammate Carley Cotton (:17.22 to :17.62) to win the 100-meter hurdles. 

Timber Lake’s Jasmine Nash won the shot put (36-4) and placed fourth in the discus (93-8). 

North Central’s Amree Vander Vorst won the javelin (98-6) and teammate Peyton Schnabel claimed the pole vault (9-9). 

The Ipswich girls won the 800-meter relay (1:53.35). 

The Warner girls won the team title with 103.5 points, finishing ahead of Ipswich (91.5) and Mobridge-Pollock (90). 

LaMoure/Litch-Marion, North Dakota, won the boys team title with 125.5 points, ahead of North Central (90) and Faulkton Area (82).
