Feb. 11 Boys Basketball Roundup - Hanson pulls away from Platte-Geddes

Hanson 58, Platte-Geddes 45

MITCHELL — Ethan Cheeseman and Sutton Dewald combined to score 35 points to pace Hanson to a boys basketball win Saturday at the DWU/Culver’s Classic.

Cheeseman logged 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Dewald added 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jackson Jarding posted nine points and five rebounds. A.J. Wilber tossed in six points, while Hadley Wallace had five rebounds, four assists and four points. 

Platte-Geddes’ Tanner Dyk tallied 16 points and seven rebounds. Hayden Sprik logged 10 points. Dawson Hoffman and Parker Bailey scored six and five points, respectively. 


St. Thomas More 68, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 57

MITCHELL — Four players scored in double figures to pace St. Thomas More to a boys basketball win at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

STM’s Jordan Uhlir logged 20 points, while Caleb Hollenbeck had 19 points, four assists and four steals. Lee Neugebauer added 13 points and eight rebounds. Will Green had 12 points and five assists. 

Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Reed Rus logged 26 points and seven rebounds. Zach Baker added 12 points, while Mason Hetland logged 11 points. Jordan Stoltz posted six points and five rebounds. 


Parkston 59, Canistota 49

MITCHELL — Five players scored in double figures to lead Parkston to a boys basketball win at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Parkston’s Will Jodozi logged 16 points and nine rebounds. Sam Benson, Luke Bormann, James Deckert and Kaleb Weber scored 10 points apiece. Deckert added seven rebounds, while Weber had five rebounds and four steals. 

Canistota’s Tage Ortman scored a game-high 24 points, to go along with six points and four steals. Brady Scott added eight points and five rebounds. Cayden Scott and Brandon Kjetland scored seven and six points, respectively. Kjetland logged eight rebounds. 


Howard 67, Waubay-Summit 52

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to lift Howard to a boys basketball win over Waubay-Summit at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Luke Koepsell finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ryder Erickson added 13 points, four steals and three rebounds. Kolt Koepsell logged 11 points and five rebounds. Taiden Hoyer had nine points. Colby Claussen recorded eight points, while Will Maier had five points. 

Waubay-Summit’s Damon Opdahl logged 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Jonathan Johnston tallied 14 points and eight rebounds. Jackson Wohlleber finished with nine points, eight assists and five rebounds. Jared Purdy posted eight points. 


Centerville 71, McCook Central/Montrose 59

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to pace Centerville to a boys basketball win at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Centerville’s Logan Bobzin finished with 22 points, five rebounds and four 3-pointers. Luke Knight added 16 points. Alec Austin added 10 points. Miles Eide scored nine points on three 3-pointers. Aiden Bobzin had six points and five assists. 

McCook Central/Montrose’s Mason Sabers recorded 22 points and four rebounds. Owen Alley added 10 points and four rebounds. Ty Morrison finished with nine points and four rebounds. Clayten Hoffman had eight points and seven rebounds. Lane Deutsch scored five points. 


Viborg-Hurley 69, Philip 55

MITCHELL — Five players scored in double figures to lead Viborg-Hurley to a boys basketball win at the DWU/Culver’s Classic on Saturday.

Nick Hanson finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Brady Schroedermeier, Kobee Sherman and Bryson Morrison scored 11 points apiece. Sherman added six points and four assists. Gage Goettertz logged 10 points, eight assists and five rebounds. 

Philip’s Layton Terkildsen finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals. Samuel Hand added 14 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Jesse Filligim logged 12 points. Bryce Westby posted six points and five rebounds, while Lane Kuchenbecker added five points and six rebounds. 


De Smet 69, Deuel 53

DE SMET — Three players scored in double figures to pace Class B No. 3 De Smet to a boys basketball win on Saturday. 

Damon Wilkinson finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds. George Jensen added 13 points, five assists and four rebounds. Kadyn Fast logged 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Kasen Janssen and Tom Aughenbaugh scored six points apiece. 

Deuel’s Trey Maaland scored 12 points and dished out five assists. Gavin Benck, Ricky Brandt and Carter Leddy scored nine points apiece. 


Clark/Willow Lake 40, Flandreau 29

FLANDREAU — Clark/Willow Lake held off Flandreau for a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Clark/Willow Lake’s Kaplan Felberg finished with 15 points. 

Flandreau’s Paul Parsley netted 10 points. 

 

Elkton-Lake Benton 61, Garretson 48

ELKTON — A balanced scoring attack helped Elkton-Lake Benton pick up a win over Garretson in boys basketball action Saturday. 

Carson Griffith led the Elks offense with 23 points. Ryan Krog added 12 points while Tanner Drietz chipped in with eight points. 

Brecken Weir led Garretson with 13 points while Ian Buettner added nine points for the Blue Dragons. 


Sunshine Bible Academy 53, Sioux Falls Lutheran 52

MILLER — A balanced scoring attack helped Sunshine Bible Academy earn a win over Sioux Falls Lutheran in boys basketball action Saturday. 

Daniel Gerbracht led Sunshine Bible Academy with 23 points and nine rebounds. Owen Watson added nine points while River Jones and Henrik Wipf each scored eight points. 

Ethan Olson led Sioux Falls Lutheran with 19 points and eight rebounds. Grant Prouty had 18 points while Muoch Jud finished with ten points and 14 rebounds. 


Yankton 74, Rapid City Central 53

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures as Yankton picked up a win over Rapid City Central in boys basketball action Saturday. 

Rugby Ryken led Yankton with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Drew Ryken added 19 points while Landon Potts scored 12 points in the win. 

Cameron Steidley and Shun-Zi White Woman each had ten points to lead Rapid City Central. 


Harrisburg 67, Rapid City Stevens 43

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures as Harrisburg earned a win over Rapid City Stevens in boys basketball action Saturday. 

Braeden VanBockern led the Tiger offense with 23 points. Jacoby Mehrman had 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals while Ethan Determan had 15 points and three assists. 

Dayler Segrist led Rapid City Stevens with nine points and four rebounds. Caden Dowling, Kaelem Brooks and Minkah Hawley each had five points for the Raiders.
