Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 51, Wessington Springs 47

HURON — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket outlasted No. 5 Wessington Springs for the 281 Conference boys basketball championship on Thursday.

SCW’s Landon Jensen finished with 15 points and three rebounds. McCoy Schulz added 12 points and eight rebounds. Eli White posted 10 points and eight rebounds. Sam Baruth totaled eight points and five rebounds. Grant Edwards finished with six points and seven rebounds.

For WS, Colby Flowers finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Logan Mebius had 14 points and four 3-pointers. Luke Larson posted six points and five rebounds. Grady Gran and Parker Graff scored five points apiece.

 

Viborg-Hurley 52, Baltic 51

BALTIC — Viborg-Hurley’s Braydyn Morrison hit three free throws with 1.6 seconds left to stun Baltic in a boys basketball thriller Thursday.

Morrison and Jake Austin each finished with eight points in the win, Brady Schroedermeier added 26 points to lead the Cougars while Lincoln Vannorsdel had six points in the win.

For Baltic, Kellen Artz led the Bulldogs with 22 points, Dylan Runestad added 15 points while Cooper Garry added six points in the loss.


Wolsey-Wessington 62, Iroquois/Lake Preston 52

HURON — Wolsey-Wessington held off Iroquois/Lake Preston for a third-place finish at the boys 281 Conference tournament on Thursday.

WW’s Larz Tvedt finished with 16 points, four rebounds and four 3-pointers. Jett Kleinsasser had 13 points. Caleb Richmond totaled 11 points and five rebounds. Sawyer Nelson added nine points and seven rebounds. Clay Kahre and Cooper Timm scored seven and six points, respectively. Kahre added six boards.

For ILP, Lucas Peskey totaled 17 points and six rebounds. Brycen Blue, Carter Arbeiter and Ervin Carter scored 10 points apiece. Carter added nine boards. 


James Valley Christian 62, Hitchcock-Tulare 53

HURON — Jayven Van Scharrel and Noah Fast powered James Valley Christian to a fifth-place finish at the boys 281 Conference tournament on Thursday.

Van Scharrel had 19 points and Fast scored 18 points. Fast hit three 3-pointers. Gavin Waldner added five points. 

For HT, Devin Enander scored 22 points and Deegan Moes scored 17 points. Patrick Maynard had seven rebounds. 


Highmore-Harrold 66, Sunshine Bible Academy 29

HURON — Brooke McPeak powered Highmore-Harrold to a seventh-place finish at the boys 281 Conference tournament on Thursday.

McPeak finished with 25 points, seven steals, three assists and three rebounds. Jordan Erfman totaled 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jayden Erfman had nine points on three 3-pointers.

For SBA, Isaac Hague totaled 12 points and three rebounds. Avery Hall had five points. 


Sioux Falls Lutheran 41, Centerville 40

CENTERVILLE — Drew Knobloch’s 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted Sioux Falls Lutheran to a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Sam Borg led the Eagles with 13 points. Knobloch finished with eight points. Rowen Becker scored seven points, Kade Matthies added six points and Owen Glister totaled five points.

For Centerville, Alec Austin recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds. Logan Ruter had 15 points. Lane Ruter added five points.

 

Ethan 49, Corsica-Stickney 34

CORSICA — Davin Hohn scored 31 points as Ethan knocked off Corsica-Stickney in boys basketball action Thursday.

Hohn finished with 31 points and six rebounds, Creighton Klumb added nine points while Tuff Martin had six points and six rebounds in the win.

For CS, Brooks Blom had 13 points, Jett Kemp tallied nine points, Jaxson Feenstra netted five points while Max Vanden Hoek collected five boards in the loss.


North Central 48, Herreid/Selby Area 36

HERREID — Donovan Nelson’s 18 point game guided North Central over Herreid/Selby Area in boys basketball action Thursday.

Nelson led the Thunder with 18 points, Isaiah Heilman added seven points while Kaleb Scherr netted six points in the win.

For HSA, Tatum Quaschnick tallied 13 points while Adonnis Mills added six points in the loss.


Hanson 61, Canistota 44

ALEXANDRIA — Nate Wilber and Jett Jager combined for 32 points as Hanson knocked off Canistota in boys basketball action Thursday.

Wilber and jager each had 16 points, including five rebounds from Wilber, in the win.

Canistota’s Dayne Krinke had 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Caleb Schroeder added 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss.


Miller 60, Chamberlain 47

MILLER — William Resel and Isaak Hunter combined for 48 points as Miller took down Chamberlain in boys basketball action Thursday.

Resel led the Rustlers with 26 points and six rebounds while Hunter added 22 points and nine boards in the win. Derek Brueggeman had seven points and three rebounds while Blaten Werdel tallied five points and five boards as well.

For Chamberlain, Miles HisLaw had 17 points, three rebounds and three steals, Riddik Big Eagle had 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists while Blaze Knippling recorded nine points and four rebounds in the loss.


Parkston 55, Bon Homme 29

TYNDALL — Brycen Bruening and Grady Bowar powered Class B No. 10 Parkston over Bon Homme in boys basketball action Thursday.

Bruening and Bowar each had 15 points, including six boards from Bruening in the win while Mason Jervik had seven points, six rebounds and six assists as well.

BH’s stats were not reported.


Freeman 70, Scotland/Menno 42

MENNO — David Walter’s 26-point game lifted Class B No. 7 Freeman over Scotland/Menno in boys basketball action Thursday.

Walter finished with 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Tayden Kerrigan added 12 points and six rebounds, Oliver Waltner netted nine points while Luke Peters dished out four assists in the win.

For SM, Izayah Ulmer had 13 points and two steals, Hunter Clark netted eight points and seven rebounds while Micah Goehring collected five points in the loss.


Tea Area 57, Mitchell 48 (OT)

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to pace Tea Area to an overtime boys basketball win over Mitchell on Thursday.

Tea Area’s Mitch Grant and Grifin Wiebenga totaled 16 points and four rebounds apiece. Gavin Shawd added 15 points. 

For Mitchell, Colton Smith totaled 16 points, 21 rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Owen Raml added 11 points and three rebounds. Lincoln Bottum had nine points on three 3-pointers. Collin Weier had five points and five boards.
