Flandreau 50, Deubrook Area 42

FLANDREAU — Flandreau pulled away from Deubrook Area for a Region 2A girls basketball win on Thursday. Flandreau advances to the SoDak 16 and its opponent is to be determined.

Flandreau was led by Maria Parsley with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Claire Sheppard scored 14 points. Lizzie Pavlis grabbed 10 rebounds and Lily Klein recorded five steals.

Deubrook Area was led by Emma Vandermeer with 17 points.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 44, Parkston 25

PARKSTON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton advanced to the SoDak 16 with a Region 5A girls basketball win over Parkston on Thursday. MVP’s opponent is to be determined. 

MVP’s Emilee Fox finished with 13 points and six boards. Mariah Baker added 12 points and four rebounds, while Shyla Tobin had five points and four rebounds. 

Parkston’s Abby Hohn finished with 11 points and eight boards. Allison Ziebart logged seven points and five rebounds, while Faith Oakley recorded five points and eight rebounds.

Howard 61, Colman-Egan 56 (2OT)

MADISON — Howard outscored Colman-Egan 12-7 in the second overtime to secure a Region 4B girls basketball win. Howard advances to the SoDak 16 and its opponent is to be determined. 

Howard’s Kate Connor powered the Tigers with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Abby Aslesen finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Rylee Rudebusch posted nine points, while Trinity Palmquist had eight points and six assists. Canyon Kidd nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, her only points of the game, to send it into the second overtime. 

Colman-Egan’s Mackenzie Hemmer logged 30 points, 17 rebounds, six steals and five assists. Hailey Larson and Lanie Mousel finished with seven points apiece. Brynlee Landis added five points, six rebounds and three steals. Berkley Groos had five points and Kadance Landis had five rebounds. 


Bridgewater-Emery 58, Ethan 54 (OT)

MADISON — Bridgewater-Emery outlasted Ethan in overtime to win a Region 4B girls basketball game on Thursday. Bridgewater-Emery advances to the SoDak 16 and its opponent is to be determined.

BE was led by Morgan Uptagrafft with 16 points, while Julia Weber scored 14 points. Cara Meyer tallied 13 points, while Taylor Schallenkamp added 10 points.

Ethan was led by Hannah Bartscher with 21 points, while Ava Lingemann scored 19 points. Bella Nesheim tallied eight points, while Marissa Storm added six points.


Florence/Henry 70, Tiospa Zina 28

FLORENCE — Florence cruised past Tiospa Zina for a Region 1A girls basketball win on Thursday. Florence/Henry will play Webster Area on Saturday.

Caylin Kelly led the Falcons with 18 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, and three assists, while Trinity Watson scored 17 points and six rebounds, while also scoring her 1,000th point. Carlie Moe tallied 12 points, seven steals, and four assists, while Taylor Watson scored 10 points. Katelyn Klitzke added six points.

Tiospa Zina was led by Alexia Quinn with 11 points, while Kennadee Bissonette added 10 points. 


Winner 58, Stanley County 27

WINNER — Winner used a 28-5 second quarter to pull away from Stanley County for a Region 6A girls basketball win on Thursday. Winner will play at Mobridge-Pollock on Saturday.

Bella Swedlund scored 32 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Kelsey Sachtjen tallied nine points and 11 rebounds. Josey Kludt added seven points.

Stanley County’s Jordyn Sosa scored seven points, while Mattie Duffy and Kori Gabriel each added six points.


Mobridge-Pollock 79, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 36

MOBRIDGE — Mobridge-Pollock jumped out to a 39-20 halftime lead en route to a Region 6A girls basketball win on Thursday. Mobridge-Pollock will host Winner on Saturday. 

Mobridge-Pollock’s Mariah Goehring finished with 24 points and four 3-pointers. Landyn Henderson added 18 points and eight rebounds. Charley Henderson logged 10 points and seven rebounds, while Katy Kemnitz posted nine points. Emma Keller added eight points, while Heidi Olson posted seven assists, five rebounds and four steals. Emily Hatzenbuehler grabbed six rebounds. 

CEB’s Shawnee Lawrence logged 18 points and nine rebounds. Cassie Carter added 13 points, while KaiLoni Johnson had five rebounds. 


Britton-Hecla 43, Waubay/Summit 42

BRITTON — Britton-Hecla edged Waubay/Summit in a Region 1B girls basketball game on Thursday. Britton-Hecla will play Aberdeen Roncalli on Saturday in Webster.

The Braves were led by Goiuri Sarria with 14 points, while Jenna Werner scored 10 points. Jayden Bender added five points.

Waubay/Summit’s Eva Benike scored 17 points, while Tasha Zirbel tallied 10 points. Kailee Berger added eight points.


Centerville 52, Freeman 50

SCOTLAND — Lillie Eide’s lay-up with six seconds left lifted Centerville to a Region 5B girls basketball win over Freeman on Thursday. Centerville advances to the SoDak 16 and its opponent is to be determined.

Thea Gust led the Tornadoes with 20 points, four assists, and three steals, while MaKayla Heesch and Lillie Eide scored nine points apiece.

Freeman’s Kate Miller led all scorers with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Erin Uecker scored 10 points. Ashlin Jacobsen added six points.


Viborg-Hurley 59, Irene-Wakonda 46

SCOTLAND — Viborg-Hurley held off Irene-Wakonda for a Region 5B girls basketball win on Thursday. Viborg-Hurley advances to the SoDak 16 and its opponent is to be determined.

Denae Mach led the Cougars with 18 points and six rebounds, while Coral Mason scored 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Charley Nelson tallied 10 points, while Delana Mach added eight points and eight rebounds.

Irene-Wakonda’s Nora O’Malley scored 17 points and seven rebounds, while Katie Knodel tallied 14 points and six boards. Madison Orr recorded six points and eight rebounds, while Emma Marshall added seven points.


White River 54, Jones County 42

WHITE RIVER — White River pulled away from Jones County for a Region 7B girls basketball win over Jones County on Thursday. White River advances to the SoDak 16 and its opponent is to be determined. 

White River’s Maleighya Estes recorded 31 points, 13 rebounds and five steals. Kelsey Morrison added six points, six rebounds and six assists. 

Jones County stats were not reported.


Highmore-Harrold 66, Lower Brule 54

HIGHMORE — Four players scored in double figures as Highmore-Harrold picked up a Region 2B girls basketball win on Thursday. Highmore-Harrold will play Sully Buttes on Saturday.

The Pirates were led by Letha Jessen with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Courtney Moser discord 14 points. Grace Knox and Maddie Knox tallied 13 points apiece, while Maddie Knox also recorded eight rebounds and four assists. Brooke Palmer added eight points.

No stats were reported for Lower Brule. 


Aberdeen Roncalli 60, Wilmot 27

ABERDEEN — Class B No. 1 Aberdeen Roncalli advanced in Region 1B play with a girls basketball win over Wilmot on Thursday. Aberdeen Roncalli plays Britton-Hecla on Saturday in Webster. 

Morgan Fielder led the Cavaliers with 16 points, while Olivia Hanson added 12 points and Madelyn Bragg recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.

Wilmot’s Madeline Remund scored nine points. 


Aberdeen Christian 50, Leola/Frederick Area 18

ABERDEEN — Aberdeen Christian advanced past Leola/Frederick Area in Region 1B girls basketball action on Thursday. Aberdeen Christian plays Warner on Saturday in Webster. 

Mallory Miller led the Knights with nine points, while Hanna Miller netted nine points. 

Leola/Frederick Area’s Chloe Arneson and Memphys Storm scored six points apiece.


Boys basketball

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 55, Little Wound 54

EAGLE BUTTE — Rance Harrison scored his 1,000th career point in Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s boys basketball win over Little Wound on Thursday.
