Feb. 8 Girls Basketball Roundup - Fourth-quarter push sends Spearfish past Mitchell

Spearfish 54, Mitchell 49

MITCHELL — Spearfish used a 22-11 fourth-quarter spurt to defeat Class AA No. 4 Mitchell in girls basketball action on Saturday.

Spearfish’s Jozie Dana finished with 20 points and four 3-pointers. Mya Kochuten scored 12 points. Kate Scharf and Adelyn Bouman added nine points apiece. 

For Mitchell, Londyn Hajek finished with 13 points and three steals, while Carsyn Weich scored 10 points. Addie Siemsen and Lauren VanOverschelde scored six points apiece. Siemsen added six assists. CeCe Morgan had six rebounds and four points. 


Custer 50, Belle Fourche 43 

CUSTER — Custer pulled away from Belle Fourche for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Custer’s Kylee Ellerton scored 15 points and Jojo Larsen finished with 12 points. Maya Tennyson had nine points 

Belle Fourche’s Reagan Hatling had 19 points and Lily Nore scored 15 points. Denali Larson had seven points 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 63, Wolsey-Wessington 33

WOLSEY — Three players scored in double figures to power Sanborn Central/Woonsocket to a girls basketball win on Saturday.

SCW’s Liz Boschee finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Kaylie Robinson recorded 15 points, four rebounds and three steals. Alexa Goertz posted 14 points and three steals. 

For WW, Maria Nelson had 12 points and Kendal Uttecht added 10 points. 


Vermillion 47, Sisseton 46

MADISON — Vermillion outlasted Sisseton for a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

Vermillion’s Kasey Hanson finished with 16 points and four steals. Taylor Reuvers added 16 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds. Brooke Jensen had eight points and six rebounds.

For Sisseton, Krista Langager tallied 24 points and 16 rebounds. Elliot Hortness added 12 points, while Saylor Langager posted eight points and eight rebounds. 


Sioux Falls Christian 64, Aberdeen Roncalli 41

MADISON — Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian pulled away from Aberdeen Roncalli for a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

SFC’s Ruth Dvoracek scored 12 points and Maya Nelson added nine points. Emory Lems and Sydney Schaap scored eight points apiece.

For Roncalli, Claire Crawford and Ava Hanson scored 12 points apiece. 


Dakota Valley 63, Hamlin 55

MADISON — Class A No. 3 Dakota Valley held off Class A No. 4 Hamlin for a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

Dakota Valley’s Ella Otten finished with 16 points and Aubree Worden scored 15 points. Emerson Mead had 14 rebounds. 

For Hamlin, Addie Neuendorf scored 16 points and Addie Steffensen finished with 13 points. Addie Jensen scored 11 points. 


Lyman 64, North Central 33

HIGHMORE — A balanced scoring attack helped Class B No. 4 Lyman get past North Central in girls basketball action Saturday.

Makaylee Scott led the Raiders with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Jordyn Scott tallied 16 points and Brook Palmer finished with nine points. Bree Smart and Kenzie Wagner combined for 13 points for the Raiders. 

Amree VanderVorst led North Central with 23 points. 


Great Plains Lutheran 44, Arlington 36

ARLINGTON — Myra Lentz and Esta Cameron combined for 26 points as Great Plains Lutheran held off Arlington in girls basketball action Saturday. 

Lentz finished with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists. Cameron scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and added three assists and three steals. 

Jaelyn Huntimer paced Arlington with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sony Johnson added nine points, five rebounds and four steals. 


Northwestern 59, Waubay-Summit 47

WAUBAY — Adriana Ratigan and Breelyn Satter powered Northwestern to a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Ratigan finished with 15 points, while Satter had 13 points and four 3-pointers. Tara Blachford and Ashley Haven scored nine points apiece. Sophia Troske had eight points.

For WS, Faith Larson finished with 18 points and three 3-pointers. Kayce Berger scored nine points, while Brianna Lindholm and Liza Purdy scored eight points apiece. 


Redfield 38, Madison 26

MADISON — Charli Jungwirth and Addisyn Evans scored 12 points apiece as Redfield defeated Madison at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

Jungwirth added nine rebounds and four steals. Evans hit four 3-pointers. Hayden Gall recorded six points, six rebounds and three steals. 

For Madison, Cambree Hunsley had seven points and six rebounds. Jaya Engels had six points and six rebounds, while Lindsey King posted five points.


West Central 67, Webster Area 29

MADISON — Four players scored in double figures powered West Central to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

West Central’s Rayna Goehring posted 17 points and Abbi Thornton had 14 points. Ellie Knight and Kacey Jaton scored 11 points apiece. 

For Webster Area, Bailee Ninke had nine points and Carrington Hanson scored seven points. Erin Sannes added six points. 


Lennox 60, Clark/Willow Lake 26

MADISON — Lennox used a 17-4 second-quarter margin to pull away from Clark/Willow Lake at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

Lennox’s Libby Kranz finished with 12 points. Bergan Musser posted 11 points, while Karlie Bosma and Gavin Herlyn scored 10 points apiece. 

For CWL, Brynn Roehrich had six points and six rebounds. Kamryn Nesheim had five points and four rebounds. 


Dell Rapids 60, Deuel 45

MADISON — Rorie Thoreson powered Dell Rapids to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

Thoreson finished with 23 points. Elly Olson and Elin Schoenhard had seven points apiece.

For Deuel, Jaycee Hourigan finished with 14 points. Graclyn Nielsen posted 11 points and six rebounds. Camdyn Peterreins finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Katrina Hagberg posted five points and six rebounds.


Elk Point-Jefferson 43, Groton Area 37

MADISON — Elk Point-Jefferson clipped Groton Area for a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

EPJ’s Bentlee Kollbaum finished with 17 points and Ashley Brewer scored 10 points. Cera Schmitz scored nine points and Kaitlyn VanRoekel scored six points.

For Groton Area, Taryn Traphagen scored 11 points and Faith Traphagen added seven points. Jerica Locke scored six points. 


Tri-Valley 66, Rapid City Christian 62 (OT)

MADISON — Tri-Valley edged Rapid City Christian for a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

TV’s Mattie Hauwe recorded 16 points and four rebounds. Izzy Davey scored 13 points. Maddie Wenzel finished with five rebounds.

For RC Christian, Nora Kieffer finished with 19 points and five rebounds. Miley Johnson finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Brynn Casey and Lydia Williams scored 10 points apiece. 


Canton 52, Milbank 47

MADISON — Three players scored in double figures to pace Canton to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Dak-XII/NEC Clash.

Canton’s Jordan Rhead finished with 18 points and four 3-pointers. Jenna Vandeweerd recorded 18 points and 15 rebounds. Brynn Oakland finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Camryn Skiles finished with six points and four rebounds. 

For Milbank, Tyra Berry recorded 24 points, seven 3-pointers and four rebounds. Claire Snaza had eight points and 10 rebounds. Isabella Anderson added eight points, nine rebounds and four assists. Belle Pauli posted three points and 10 rebounds.
