Dell Rapids at Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS — Dell Rapids will put its 14-game winning streak on the line against Hot Springs.

The Class 11A No. 1 Quarriers (2-0) will travel to Class 11B No. 5 Hot Springs (3-0) in a cross-class top-five contest. It also features a pair of undefeated teams with championship aspirations.

Dell Rapids hasn’t lost since the 2021 quarterfinals, as it finished 12-0 during the 2022 state championship season. The Quarriers’ winning streak included last season’s 41-21 win over the Bison, who rattled off six straight victories after the setback and reached the Class 11B semifinals.

Dell Rapids has picked up wins over Madison (44-13) and Belle Fourche (39-13). The Quarriers feature a balanced offensive attack, led by running back Mason Stubbe and quarterback Jack Henry. Last week, Stubbe rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown against Belle Fourche. Cole Ruesink added 35 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Henry, a future South Dakota State University quarterback, passed for 39 yards.

Hot Springs, which has outscored its opponents 157-6, also counter with a balanced offensive attack. Quarterback Colin Iverson recorded four total touchdowns last week, throwing for two scores, rushing for another and had a pick-six on defense. Running back Camron Maciejewski has rushed for 400 yards and six touchdowns this season, while patrolling the defense from his linebacker spot. Hanson at Parkston

PARKSTON — No. 1 Parkston has risen to the top of the Class 9AA polls after a dominant three-game stretch.

The Trojans (3-0) have opened up with wins over Kimball/White Lake (60-14), Platte-Geddes (46-0) and Wolsey-Wessington (54-0). Up next, they’ll face a team that’s been their bugaboo in recent memory.

Parkston will host Hanson (2-1) in a budding Class 9AA rivalry, which has been a treat for fans the past few years. The Beavers own a four-game winning streak in the series and three of the past four meetings have been decided by eight points or less.

Hanson won last season’s meeting 8-6, with a Jackson Jarding 100-yard fumble return lifting it to victory. Hanson’s other wins in the series have been 24-16, 34-22 and 26-20.

Parkston is coming off a dominant performance against then-Class 9A No. 1 Wolsey-Wessington. Kolter Kramer racked up 131 rushing yards on five carries and scored four rushing touchdowns against Wolsey-Wessington. He added an 80-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Luke Bormann racked up 144 rushing yards on seven carries and scored a touchdown. Kaden Holzbauer and Brayden Jervik added rushing touchdowns. Carter Sommer passed for 55 yards and Bormann hauled in 31 receiving yards. Will Jodozi had a team-high eight tackles.

Hanson opened its season with a 26-0 setback against Class 9AA power Howard, but followed that up with victories over Irene-Wakonda (60-0) and Chester (59-7). Against the Flyers, Hanson racked up 359 rushing yards.

Weston Kayser powered the Beavers with 115 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Kayser also scored on a kickoff return.

Hanson’s Sutton Dewald added 96 rushing yards on seven carries, while Brock Tuttle posted 60 rushing yards and two scores. Cole Dewald and Radek Jarding added rushing touchdowns.

Lyman at White River

WHITE RIVER — Two undefeated Western Great Plains Conference teams will clash in White River on Friday.

White River (3-0) will host Lyman (3-0) as the Tigers look to continue its resurgence season.

White River has already equaled its win total from the past two seasons combined. The Tigers haven’t started 3-0 since 2012, when they finished 8-2 and reached the Class 9AA quarterfinals.

White River is also looking for its first win over Lyman since 2018, when it was a co-op with Jones County.

The Tigers have picked up wins over Kadoka Area (36-18), Bennett County (40-22) and Jones County (40-8) this season. White River’s undefeated start has been sparked by quarterback Nic Marshall, who tossed four passing touchdowns and ran for two more against Jones County last week. Marshall has a pair of 6-foot-5 wide receivers — Jordan Uhlir and Logan Wright — at his disposal.

Marshall connected with Uhlir, a St. Thomas More transfer, for a pair touchdowns last week and tossed one each to Wright and Riley Bouman. Marshall, who is playing his first season of high school football, added touchdown runs of 65 and 15 yards.

Lyman has earned wins over Jones County (36-16), New Underwood (36-12) and Kadoka Area (28-26, 2OT) this season.

Lennox at Canton

CANTON — A top-five Class 11A showdown is set for Canton on Friday.

No. 3 Canton (2-0) hosts No. 5 Lennox (2-0) in a Dak-XII contest between a pair of undefeated teams.

The Orioles have opened with wins over Chamberlain (42-29) and Vermillion (18-12). Lennox piled up 428 total yards in the opener against Chamberlain, including 314 passing yards and four touchdowns from Boston Katzer. Last week, the McCook Central/Montrose transfer hit Drake Mikkelsen for a game-winning 28-yard touchdown reception with eight seconds left against Vermillion.

Katzer’s favorite target has been all-state wide receiver Porter Ihnen, who has hauled in 168 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions this season.

The C-Hawks have opened the season with wins over Sioux Falls Christian (30-18) and Beresford (42-14).

Sioux Falls Lincoln vs. Sioux Falls Jefferson

SIOUX FALLS — It’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 at the Presidents Bowl.

No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln will play No. 2 Sioux Falls Jefferson at 3:30 p.m. Saturday to kickoff the 32nd annual Presidents Bowl at Howard Wood.

Against Washington, Ethan Swenson completed 19 of 31 passes for 277 yards and a passing touchdown.
