SIOUX FALLS — The Pierre girls sent a loud and clear statement on Thursday at the South Dakota state wrestling tournament in Sioux Falls. 

The Lady Governors advanced seven athletes to Friday’s semifinals and lead the tournament with 75 points, ahead of Canton (47) and Harrisburg (46). Watertown is 4th (39.5) and Aberdeen Central (31) and Lakota Tech (31) rounded out the top-five teams after Thursday’s action concluded. 

Canton advanced three to Friday’s semifinals while Harrisburg moved four athletes into the championship placing rounds.
