Winner/Colome 11, Gregory 9

GREGORY — Winner/Colome used an eight-run third inning to power a Legion baseball win over Gregory on Wednesday.

The Royals recorded 10 hits, including two apiece from Isaiah Olson and Aiden Schroeder. Olson and Schroeder both drove in runs. Gavin Risse drove in a pair of runs. Landon Calhoon, Ryder Halligan, Konner Osborn and Zac Olson all drove in runs. Dylan Brandis struck out five batters, allowed eight hits, two earned runs and two walks in a complete-game victory. Brandis also had a hit.

For Gregory, Jayder Schonebaum had two hits and drove in two runs. Colt Keiser had two hits and knocked in a run. Landon Keiser, Noah Bearshield, Jad Leber and Jackson Bolander had hits. Bearshield took the loss after allowing five hits, seven earned runs, three walks and struck out two batters in 2.2 innings. 


Groton 20, Big Stone City 0 (3 innings)

GROTON — Brevin Fliehs drove in six runs as Groton earned a mercy rule victory in Legion baseball action Wednesday.

Fliehs batted 3-for-3 with two triples, driving in six runs in the win. Teylor Diegel and Gavin Englund each drove in a pair of runs on one hit, Nick Morris tallied two hits and an RBI, while Braxton Imrie, Jarrett Erdmann and Alex Abeln each tallied RBIs on one hit in the win. Karsten Fliehs added an RBI walk as well. Groton drew 10 walks in just three innings. Korbin Kucker took the victory on the mound allowing one hit and one walk in two innings, striking out five.

For Big Stone City, Kirby Olson allowed nine runs on seven hits and four walks in one inning pitched. Avier Hughes tallied the only hit in the loss for BSC.


Groton 18 , Big Stone City 1 (3 innings)

GROTON — Three different Groton batters each drove in a trio of runs as Post 39 swept Big Stone City in a Legion double header Wednesday.

Alex Abeln drove in three runs on a double and two walks, Ethan Kroll had two hits, a double, and three RBIs while Brevin Fliehs drove in three runs on two doubles and a walk in the win. Lincoln Krause, TC Schuster and Jordan Schwan each tallied two RBIs on one hit, including a triple from Schwan, while Ryder Schelle added an RBI on a hit and two walks as well. Tristin McGannon drew three walks, driving in a run in the win as well. Schuster tossed two innings for Groton, striking out three in the win.

For BSC, Braxton Brandriet allowed seven runs on five hits and three walks in an inning of work.


Wagner 9, Chamberlain 0

CHAMBERLAIN — Frank Soukup was one out shy of a complete game shutout as Wagner defeated Chamberlain in Legion baseball action Wednesday.

Soukup allowed just three hits and four walks in 6.2 shutout innings, striking out nine. Carter Cournoyer tallied an RBI on two hits and a walk, Beauregrard Otte tallied two RBIs on one hit, Soukup added two hits and a walk, while Edward Ulrich and Joey Cournoyer each drove in a run in the win.

For Chamberlain, Jeric Klages allowed two runs on three hits and four walks in 4.1 innings, striking out six. Eli Donovan, Xavier Donovan and Klages each tallied a hit in the loss.


Tabor 6, Elk Point-Jefferson 2

TABOR — Cooper Mudder drove in three runs as Tabor defeated Elk Point-Jefferson in Legion baseball action Wednesday.

Mudder drove in three runs on two doubles, Jackson Kaul added an RBI on a walk, Calvin Caba tallied an RBI on a hit and a walk, while Major Aarstad collected two hits in the win. Madden Merkwan took the win on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in a complete game outing, striking out five.

For EPJ, Keaton Gale allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks in three innings, striking out two. Jace Shatswell drove in a run on two hits while Gale added an RBI single in the loss.


Alliance (Neb.) 12, Hot Springs 2 (4 innings)

ALLIANCE — Hot Springs fell to Alliance, Nebraska, in Legion action Wednesday.

Xander Shaw took the loss, allowing 12 runs on five hits and six walks in three innings, striking out four. William O’Neill drove in a run on one hit while Layton Ringstmeyer, Jax Tschacher and Adam Adler each had one hit in the loss.


Alliance (Neb.) 16, Hot Springs 2 (4 innings)

ALLIANCE — Hot Swings lost in another mercy rule game to Alliance, Nebraska, in Legion baseball action Wednesday.

Layton Ringstmeyer allowed 12 runs on seven hits and five walks in 1.1 innings, striking out one. Torin Knight drove in two runs on a double while Jaydon Koffler, Ringstmeyer and Jax Tschacher each tallied hits in the loss.


Brookings 7, Huron 5

HURON — Back-to-back three-run frames powered Brookings to a late comeback victory over Huron in Legion action Wednesday.

Jon Kahler drove in two runs on two hits and a walk for Brookings, Maxten Jensen and Jay Harris each had an RBI on one hit, while Winston Plummer and Nolan Wagner each had hits in the win. Kysin Reuer took the win on the mound in two innings of relief, striking out two batters without allowing a baserunner.

For Huron, Oakley Anderson allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in 1.1 innings, striking out two. Anderson Porisch, Gabe Waldner and Logan Leyendecker each tallied two hits and an RBI in the loss.


Brookings 10, Huron 3

HURON — Brookings jumped out to a 9-0 lead to sweep Huron in a Legion double header Wednesday.

Nolan Wagner tallied two RBIs on two hits, Cooper Schneider and Maxten Jensen each drove in a run on two hits, Jay Harris added two RBIs on a double, Tre Christopherson tallied two RBIs on two walks while Winston Plummer drove in a run on a hit in the win. Breck Wilson took the win on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in six innings, striking out four.

For Huron, Logan Leyendecker allowed nine runs on nine hits and three walks in three innings, striking out two. Bubba Peterson tallied two hits, Cooper Bischoff drove in a run on a walk while Parker Bischoff tallied an RBI on one hit in the loss.


Rapid City Post 22 6, Rocky Mountain Lobos (Col.) 0

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Post 22 earned a shutout victory to open the 50th annual Firecracker Classic Wednesday.

Wyatt Reeder tallied three hits, a double, triple and an RBI, Josh Elder had two RBIs on one hit while Aiden Roberts and Lars Kieffer each drove in a run on one hit in the win. Jadon Moreno earned the victory on the mound allowing one hit and three walks in six shutout innings, striking out seven.


Pierre 14, Aberdeen 3

ABERDEEN — Cooper Terwilliger drove in four runs as Pierre took one of two games in a Legion baseball double header with Aberdeen Wednesday.

Terwilliger drove in four runs on a double, Charlie Simpson added three hits, a walk and two RBIs, Ridge Leimbach tallied two RBIs on a double, while JJ Bucholz drove in a run on a walk in the win. Porter Hunsley earned the victory on the mound, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk in five strong innings.

For Aberdeen, Joran Foss allowed 10 runs on six hits and two walks in four innings. Lance Siefken tallied two hits, Joe Cogley drove in a run on one hit while Jaxon Ladner added an RBI single in the loss.


Aberdeen 11, Pierre 0 (4 innings)

ABERDEEN — Cooper Eisenbeisz tossed a four-inning shutout as Aberdeen split a Legion double header with Pierre Wednesday.

Eisenbeisz gave up just two hits in four shutout innings, only throwing 35 pitches in the win. Grant Beyer drove in three runs on two hits, one double, Joe Cogley added two hits and two RBIs, Lance Siefken tallied an RBI on two hits, Ridley Waldo added two walks and an RBI, Jaxon Ladner tallied an RBI on a hit and a walk while Karson Borge tallied two hits and a walk in the win.

For Pierre, Hudson Schaffer allowed five runs on two hits and four walks in 2. 2 innings, striking out three. Dawson Getz and Ridge Leimbach each tallied a hit in the loss for Pierre.
