Gregory’s Kurt Stukel and Sioux Falls Christian’s Luke Vander Leest were named the South Dakota track and field coaches of the year by the The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Stukel was named the boys track and field coach of the year, while Vander Leest was named the girls track and field coach of the year. 

Stukel led the Gorillas to their second straight Class B boys track and field title. Gregory finished with 57 points, earning the title by two points. Gregory also won the South Central Conference track and field meet. 

Vander Leest led Sioux Falls Christian to its third straight Class A girls track and field championship. The Chargers recorded 130.5 points, a state meet record. Sioux Falls Christian also won the Dak-XII Conference track and field meet, its fourth straight title.
