Hanson boys, Centerville girls claim team titles at Don Diede Relays

FREEMAN — The Hanson boys and Centerville girls won team titles at Tuesday’s Don Diede Relays. 

The Hanson boys logged 120 points, holding off Viborg-Hurley (113) and Freeman (100.5) for the team title. The Centerville girls posted 188.5 points, finishing ahead of Freeman (107.5) and Hanson (75.5).

In boys action, Hanson’s Weston Kayser won the 100-meter dash (:11.44) and teammate Sutton Dewald won the 200-meter dash (:23.05) and 400-meter dash (:51.41). 

Sutton Dewald, Jett Jager, Cole Dewald and Weston Kayser won the 400-meter relay (:44.46). Hanson’s Keaton Weber and Viborg-Hurley’s Andrew Madsen tied for first in the high jump at 5-7. Weber won the pole vault (11-3) and long jump (20-2).

Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman captured first-place finishes in the 800-meter run (2:00.01) and 3,200-meter run (10:51.33). 

Freeman Academy/Marion’s Finley McConniel won the 1,600-meter run (4:43.99). 

Viborg-Hurley’s Jacob Graves won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.72) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.79). 

Centerville’s Miles Eide won the triple jump (38-9.5), added a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.36) and a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (:44.47).  

Canistota’s Jaden Kleinsasser won the shot put with a toss of 48-0.5, finishing ahead of Adam Kleinsasser (45-9.5). Jaden Kleinsasser had a second-place finish in the discus (145-2).

Rafe Goettertz won the discus (146-9). 

Freeman’s Alaric Knittel won the javelin (145-3). 

Freeman’s Luke Miller, Tate Sorensen, Luke Peters and Chris Aasen captured the 800-meter relay (1:33.98). Miller, Brody Sorensen, Peters and Tate Sorensen won the 1,600-meter relay (3:38.24). Miller, Lane McCune, Brody Sorensen and Braydan Mangel claimed the 3,200-meter relay (9:02.26). 

Peters, Aasen, Tate Sorensen and Brody Sorensen won the sprint medley relay (3:51.24). 

In girls action, Centerville’s Emma Marshall won the 200-meter dash (:25.95), 400-meter dash (:58.39) and long jump (17-2.5). 

Centerville’s Lilee Shearer won the 100-meter dash (:13.04). Centerville’s Shearer, Shubeck, Izzie Eide and Harper Wattier won the 400-meter relay (:52.65). Shearer, Shubeck, Eide and Marshall won the 800-meter relay (1:46.75). 

Lydia Austin, Brea Austin, Sage Martz and Peyton Hansen won the 3,200-meter relay (10:43.31). Shearer, Wattier, Eide and Austin won the sprint medley relay in 4:35.59. 

Irene-Wakonda’s Brenna Lyngstad captured the 800-meter run (2:32.81) and 1,600-meter run (5:56.57).

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Andie Aughenbaugh won the 3,200-meter run (13:14.00). SCW’s Elizabeth Boschee won the javelin (122-1), high jump (5-2) 

Freeman’s Rylee Peters (:15.52) edged Centerville’s Emery Shubeck (:15.59) for first place in the 100-meter hurdles. 

In the 300-meter hurdles, Shubeck (:47.80) nipped Peters (:47.98). Cadence Hofer, Makenzie Scharberg, Vaida Ammann and Peters won the 1,600-meter relay (4:18.11). 

Hanson’s Olivia Kayser captured first-place finishes in the shot put (34-4) and discus (101-11). Hanson’s Jazzlyn Campbell won the triple jump (33-5.5). 

Gayville-Volin’s Miley Hansen won the pole vault (7-3).
