State champion Harrisburg and runner-up Sioux Falls Washington landed two players apiece on the Class AA all-state volleyball first team, which was selected by the South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association.

Harrisburg’s Gabi Zachariasen and Maggie Meister were on the Class AA all-state first team, while Washington was represented by Macie Malchow and Taryn Kirsch. Harrisburg’s Josalyn Samuels was a second-team selection.

Zachariasen, a sophomore outside hitter, powered the Tigers to their second straight Class AA state championship. She finished with 529 kills and 238 digs. Maggie Meister, a junior libero, logged 530 digs and 40 aces for the state champs. 

Malchow, a senior setter, tallied 925 assists, 245 digs and 62 aces. Kirsch, a junior libero, recorded 522 digs, 68 aces and 104 assists for Washington.

Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Linnea Nesheim, Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Presly Pastian, Watertown’s Emery Thury and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Kyra Hermanson rounded out the first-team selections. 

Nesheim recorded 248 kills, 45 aces and 223 digs for the Patriots. Pastian, a senior setter, posted 798 assists and 217 digs. Thury, a junior outside hitter, posted 375 kills, 53 aces and 303 digs for the Arrows. Hermanson, a junior setter, registered 614 assists, 119 kills and 189 digs.
