Harrisburg girls win Rapid City Invitational cross-country meet

RAPID CITY — The Harrisburg High School girls runners shined at the Rapid City Area Schools Invitational cross-country meet on Friday.

Harrisburg seventh-grader Brianna Reilly and eighth-grader Hannah Genrich powered the Tigers to a first-place finish in the 20-team race. Reilly covered the 5,000-meter distance in 18 minutes and :19.85 at Hart Ranch Camping Resort, finishing ahead of Genrich (18:30.96). Sioux Falls Christian’s Ellie Maddox (18:47.44), Pierre’s Emery Larson (18:53.83) and Sioux Falls Christian’s Jerica Glasser (19:12.05) rounded out the top-five runners.

Harrisburg won the team title with 63 points, finishing ahead of Brandon Valley (75) and Sioux Falls Christian (114).

Thunder Basin, Wyoming’s Patrick Hardesty (16:10.37) won the boys 5,000-meter run. Brandon Valley’s Mikah Peters (16:15.93) finished second. Laramie, Wyoming’s Gideon Moore (16:20.32), Sturgis’ Ty Petrocco (16:22.36) and Rapid City Stevens’ Miles Brekhus (16:36.91) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Sheridan, Wyoming, won the boys team title with 90 points, finishing ahead of Stevens (135) and Sioux Falls Christian (148).
