High school volleyball roundup - Winner outlasts Miller in five-set volleyball match

Winner 3, Miller 2

Winner outlasted Miller in five sets in prep volleyball action on Thursday. Set scores were 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 19-25 and 15-11.

Ellie Brozik led the Warriors with 15 kills and six aces. Libbie Petersek added 11 kills, two aces, 13 digs and two blocks. Alexis Klein recorded 28 assists and 12 digs. Jenna Hammerbeck finished with five blocks. 

For Miller, Ally Mullaney recorded 21 kills and two blocks. Abbi Blake posted eight kills and two aces. Tyra Gates dished out 39 assists and had 21 digs. Tricia Lammers had two blocks. 


Platte-Geddes 2, Avon 1

Platte-Geddes defeated Avon in the Hanson Early Bird Tournament title match on Thursday. Set scores were 25-23, 21-25 and 25-17.

For Platte-Geddes, Cadence Van Zee finished with 16 kills and 12 digs. Karly VanDerWerff posted 13 kills and 23 digs. Avery DeVries finished with 31 assists, three kills and three blocks. Regan Hoffman logged seven kills and 14 digs. Karsen Sondgeroth and Hadley Hanson had nine digs apiece. 

For Avon, Tiffany Pelton finished with 10 kills, five blocks, four digs and three aces. Courtney Sees recorded 10 digs and McKenna Kocmich recorded 15 assists. Makayla Kopp recorded 10 digs. 


Wessington Springs 2, Freeman 1

Wessington Springs topped Freeman in the third place match at the Hanson Early Bird Tournament on Thursday. Set scores were 20-25, 25-13 and 25-22. 

Alyssa Grohs finished with 19 assists and nine digs. Avery Orth had eight kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Raylee Fagerhaug posted 15 digs. 

For Freeman, Erin Uecker had 11 kills and 13 digs. Kate Miller finished with 10 kills, 13 digs and five blocks. Ava Ammann finished with 25 assists and nine digs. Lily Wipf recorded 13 digs. 


Bridgewater-Emery 3, Corsica-Stickney 0

Bridgewater-Emery swept Corsica-Stickney in straight sets in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-13, 25-16 and 25-12.

Julia Weber led the Huskies with eight kills and 11 digs. Taylor Schallenkamp added five kills, four digs and four aces. Casey Meyer recorded 11 assists and six digs. Cara Meyer logged 13 digs, while Kaitlyn Roskens added nine assists. Chloe Schmitt and Morgan Uptagraft had three kills apiece. Uptagraft added three digs. 

For Corsica-Stickney, Morgan Clites finished with six kills and 10 digs. Payton DeLange finished with nine digs, four kills and three blocks. Rachel Gerlach added three kills, two blocks and five digs. Casey Tolsma finished with eight digs, while Sutten Eide added four digs and 13 assists. 


Ipswich 3, Highmore-Harrold 0

Ipswich swept Highmore-Harrold in straight sets in a high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-21 and 25-23.

Gracie Lange finished with 13 kills and Baylee Kulesa added eight kills. Kulsea added two aces. Katie Bierman posted seven aces and eight digs. Quincy Oliver finished with 22 assists, seven digs and one solo block. 

For Highmore-Harrold, Alexis Roth and Letha Jessen posted six and five kills, respectively. Jessen added one solo block. Courtney Moser handed out 14 assists and had 11 digs, while Kenidy Effling finished with 12 digs. Reghan Westcott added two aces. 


Wilmot 3, Waverly-South Shore 0

Wilmot knocked off Waverly-South Shore in straight sets in a high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 27-25, 25-20 and 25-20.

Wilmot’s Bridget Eschen had three aces, eight kills and 12 digs. Emily Heuer posted nine assists and three aces. Lily Revalee finished with four kills and Capri Schroeder posted 19 digs. Sophie Dalton had two solo blocks, while Rianne Basye had four block assists. 


Menno 3, Centerville 1

Menno defeated Centerville in prep volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-18, 25-15, 11-25 and 25-20.

Bridget Vaith led Menno with seven kills, three blocks, six digs and six aces. Julia Buechler added seven kills, nine digs and three aces. Paityn Huber logged 10 assists, 13 digs, three kills and three blocks. Grace Nusz added 11 assists, nine digs, three aces and three kills.

For Centerville, Bailey Hansen posted seven kills, 17 digs and two aces. Sophie Eide finished with six kills and 15 digs. Thea Gust recorded three kills, three blocks, six digs and five aces. Lillie Eide added 36 digs. 


Bon Homme 3, Viborg-Hurley 2

Bon Homme edged Viborg-Hurley in a five-set marathon high school volleyball match on Thursday. Set scores were 21-25, 25-18, 25-14, 26-28 and 15-10.

Olivia Bures led the Cavaliers with 23 kills, nine aces and eight digs. Jenna Duffek added six kills, five aces and three digs. Jaden Kortan posted 31 assists and two blocks. Erin Heusinkfeld finished with five kills, eight digs and three aces. Kenadee Kozak added 12 digs, three aces, two blocks and two kills. Jurni Vavruska recorded seven digs. 

For Viborg-Hurley, Denae Mach finished with 11 kills, while Delana Mach posted 11 kills. Brooklyn Anderson finished with three kills and two digs. Coral Mason added six kills, five aces and two digs. Mataya Vannorsdel had 18 assists and two aces. 


Irene-Wakonda 3, Scotland 2

Irene-Wakonda outlasted Scotland in a five-set marathon high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 24-26, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16 and 15-8.

Emma Orr led the Eagles with 10 kills and 11 assists. Nora O’Malley added 10 kills, five blocks and four digs. Madison Orr added eight kills and four blocks. McKenna Mork recorded seven kills, five digs and 18 assists. Willa Freeman posted 24 digs and three aces. Katie Knodel added seven digs, four aces and three kills. Jordan Bak finished with 16 digs and five kills. 

For Scotland, Delanie VanDriel finished with 11 kills, while Martina DeBoer added four kills, eight digs and two blocks. Trinity Bietz put down 11 kills, while Bailey Vitek added 10 digs. Joslyn Walloch contributed eight digs. Rylee Conrad finished with 24 digs and Grace Robb added three aces. 


Howard 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 2

Howard outlasted Oldham-Ramona/Rutland in a five-set marathon match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-21, 17-25, 27-25, 20-25 and 15-11. 

Kate Connor led Howard with 10 kills, while Abby Aslesen finished with six kills and four aces. Emma Rudebusch had 12 assists, while Rylee Rudebusch had seven assists and 17 digs. Piper Thompson logged 31 digs and four aces. Katlin Schlim had nine digs. 

For ORR, Julia Trygstad finished with 21 kills, four blocks and two aces. Paige Hanson logged 26 digs and Brooklyn Hageman finished with 17 digs. Alivia Beckett recorded 39 digs and nine kills, while Breckyn Leighton added 21 digs. 


Garretson 3, Centerville 0

Garretson swept Beresford in straight sets in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-19, 25-16 and 25-14. 

Maren Bonte and Lily Ranschau led Garretson with nine kills and six digs apiece. Alli Gawarecki added seven kills and nine digs. Jaelyn Benson logged 29 assists, five digs and two aces. 

For Beresford, Savannah Beeson recorded seven kills. Larissa Tiedeman added 15 assists and three digs. Kara Niles put down five kills and Autumn Namminga logged seven digs. 


Lake Preston 3, Iroquois/Doland 0

Lake Preston topped Iroquois/Doland in straight sets in a high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-18, 25-22 and 25-8.

Faith Steffensen led the Divers with eight kills, nine digs and three blocks. Marissa Rober added 13 digs and seven kills. Annika Nelson logged six assists, while Ava Malone finished with 16 digs and three aces. Jocelyn Steffensen dished out 12 assists.

For Iroquois/Doland, Becca Bich finished with six kills and two blocks. Katie Dubro finished with five kills, two blocks and nine digs, while Harley Nelson added three aces, nine assists and two blocks. Anna Decker posted 10 digs and Kaylee Morehead added six digs. Lily Blue contributed three blocks. 


Castlewood 3, Hitchcock-Tulare 0

Castlewood swept Hitchcock-Tulare in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-17, 25-14 and 25-19.

Presley Knecht led the Warriors with 12 kills, while Mackenzie Everson had 17 digs, nine kills and two aces. Gracie Haug and Kailyn Larson had 13 and 12 assists, respectively. Haug added 15 digs. 

For Hitchcock-Tulare, Katelyn Schroeder had 18 kills and 15 digs, while Madison Hofer posted five kills and 14 digs. Shandi Chasing Hawk dished out 16 assists. 


Colman-Egan 3, Baltic 1

Colman-Egan defeated Baltic in a high school volleyball match on Thursday. Set scores were 25-23, 19-25, 25-20 and 25-15.

Hailey Larson led Colman-Egan with 14 kills and 18 digs. Mackenzie Hemmer posted 11 kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Lanie Mousel and Ava Mousel had 14 and 11 assists, respectively. Lanie Mousel recorded 13 digs, while Berkley Groos had 11 digs. 

For Baltic, Elyssa Clark finished with 14 kills and 18 digs. Sami Polzin posted 11 kills and 17 digs, while Baily Teveldal recorded 24 assists. Madison Kennedy added two aces. Jacie Wendland recorded 18 assists. Berklee Erickson finished with 19 digs. 


Wagner 3, Vermillion 1

Wagner downed Vermillion in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-10, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-21.

Wagner’s Avari Bruguier led the way with 14 kills and 19 digs. Emma Yost posted six kills, 16 digs and two aces. Kya Kjeldgaard finished with five kills, seven digs, seven aces and three blocks. Macy Koupal recorded 32 assists, while Shona Kocer posted six kills and two blocks.

For Vermillion, Claire Doty recorded 23 assists, seven digs and five kills. Brooklyn Voss finished with six kills, while Kara Klemme logged nine digs, eight kills and three aces. Brooke Jensen and Serena Gapp had five kills apiece, while Jensen had two aces. Clare Dahlhoff recorded 16 digs. 


Madison 3, Flandreau 0

Madison recorded a three-set victory over Flandreau in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-16, 25-15 and 25-9.

Audrey Nelson led the Bulldogs with 12 kills and Ali Vacanti recorded six kills. Vacanti added seven digs and Nelson had two blocks. Megan Schouwenburg and Abby Morse had five kills apiece. Callie McDermott finished with six aces, while Kylie Krusemark had two aces and 29 assists. Raena Rost posted 15 digs. 

For Flandreau, Claire Sheppard finished with six kills and two blocks. Hailey Williams added four kills. Bella Pavlis and Abby Schoeberl recorded 11 digs apiece, while Pavlis had five assists. Schoeberl posted 10 assists. 


Webster Area 3, Milbank 0

Webster Area swept Milbank in a high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-16, 25-23 and 25-18.

For Milbank, Rachel Schulte had a team-high six kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Skyler Skoog and Casside Seezs had two kills apiece. Averie Engebretson finished with eight assists and Camryn Wiese had four assists. Hallie Schulte had 13 digs, while Emily Wollschlager had 11 digs. 


Redfield 3, Tiospa Zina 0

Redfield swept Tiospa Zina in straight sets in a high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-10 and 25-13.

Gracie Fast led the Redfield with eight kills and five aces. Camryn Rohlfs finished with six aces and 30 assists. Katie Rozell posted seven kills, while Annie Smith had seven digs. Chloe Zens added four digs. Chelsea Smith and Mallory Smith both had a block. 


Dakota Valley 3, Yankton 2

Dakota Valley outlasted Yankton in a five-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 15-25, 25-22, 21-25 and 20-18.

Sophie Tuttle led Dakota Valley with 12 kills and 27 digs. Logan Miller finished with 15 assists and three blocks. Tori Schultz recorded five blocks. Sam Archer posted nine kills and 27 digs. Katie Van Rooyan added 34 digs and four aces. Ragen VanRooyan posted two aces. 

For Yankton, Chloe McDermott posted 21 kills, 23 digs, three blocks, three assists and one ace. Jordyn Savatori finished with 12 kills, 21 digs, three blocks and five assists. Camille McDermott added 30 assists and two digs. Payton Moser had 30 digs, while Molly Savey added eight digs. Britta Pietila posted four kills and four digs. Macy Drotzmann finished with eight kills, four blocks, five digs and two assists.


Sioux Falls Christian 3, Tea Area 0

Sioux Falls Christian swept Tea Area in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-11, 25-7 and 25-7.

Katie Van Egdom led the Chargers with 14 kills and five digs. Kylah vanDonkersgoed added five kills and seven digs. Lavin Maddox posted 11 digs, while Addisen Barber logged 23 assists and five digs. Sydney Tims put down seven kills. 

For Tea Area, Mara Grant finished with six kills. Alyssa Giles posted two kills, while Grant added two blocks. Cassidy Gors added 15 digs and Jillian Huenink recorded seven assists. 


Brandon Valley 3, Harrisburg 0

Brandon Valley swept Harrisburg in straight sets in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-20, 25-23 and 25-12. 

Josey Wickersham led Brandon Valley with eight kills and 11 digs. Liz Kopp added 23 assists, while Sydney Benson had two aces. Brooke Moeller logged 13 digs. Mya Heji and Hannah Parliament had seven and six blocks, respectively. 

For Harrisburg, Abby Meister finished with 10 kills and 11 digs. Jada Wassink had four aces. Maggie Meister finished with 15 assists, 10 kills and 11 digs. Morissen Samuels added six kills. 


Sioux City West (Iowa) 3, Elk Point-Jefferson 2

Sioux City West, Iowa edged Elk Point-Jefferson in a five-set marathon match on Thursday. Set scores were 25-20, 18-25, 22-25, 25-18 and 15-4.

Holly Duax led Sioux City West with 10 kills and five blocks. Maya Augustine finished with nine kills and 12 digs. 

For EPJ, Maddie Hammitt finished with nine kills. Alyssa Chytka finished with 24 digs, while Nikki Wriedt posted 22 digs. Ashley Brewer finished with seven kills and five blocks. Natalie Heuertz logged six kills and two blocks. Danica Torrez added 12 digs and three kills. Sophia Giorgio added 14 digs.
