Canistota 65, Gregory 59

MITCHELL — Four players scored in double figures to lead Canistota to a come-from-behind win over Gregory at the Hoop City Classic on Tuesday. 

Trace Ortman tossed in 17 points, while Isiah Robertson and Tage Ortman scored 15 points apiece. Tye Merrill added 13 points for Canistota.

Gregory’s Daniel Mitchell scored a team-high 22 points. Carson Klundt netted 11 points and Jordan Songer scored 10 points.

Bridgewater-Emery 49, Campbell County 32

MITCHELL — Bridgewater-Emery jumped out to an early lead and topped Campbell County in girls basketball action at Tuesday’s Hoop City Classic. 

Julia Weber tossed in 21 points for the Huskies. Taylor Schallenkamp added 16 points, while Chloe Schmitt added six points. 

Campbell County’s Alexis Reimer scored seven points. Erika Martinez scored five points. 

 

Thunder Basin (Wyo.) 61, Mitchell 53

MITCHELL — Playing its second game of the day, Thunder Basin handed Mitchell its first defeat of the season at the Hoop City Classic on Tuesday at the Corn Palace. 

Thunder Basin, which lost to First Assembly Christian School earlier in the day, received 18 points from Ethan Cox. Deegan Williams added 15 points. Kayden LaFramboise tossed in 11 points and Bodie Williams scored seven points.

Mitchell’s Caden Hinker netted 18 points. Steele Morgan scored 14 points, while Gavyn Degen scored eight points.

Totino-Grace (Minn.) 71, Houston (Tenn.) 41

MITCHELL — Totino-Grace and its nationally-ranked prospects ran past Houston (Tenn.) in a boys basketball contest on Tuesday at the Hoop City Classic. 

Tommy Humphries, a 2023 guard, led the Eagles with 16 points. Iowa State signee Demorian Watson and Taison Chatman, a 2023 four-star guard, finished with 10 points apiece. Ahjany Lee, a 2022 three-star forward committed to the University of St. Thomas, had eight points. 

Houston’s Brock Vice posted 16 points and Mavrick Miller finished with seven points.  


First Assembly Christian School (Tenn.) 48, Thunder Basin (Wyo.) 46

MITCHELL — First Assembly Christian School outlasted Thunder Basin in a boys basketball contest on Tuesday at the Hoop City Classic. 

Daniel Egbuniwe, T.J. Thomas and Alex Harris led the Crusaders with 12 points apiece. Rashaun Wise added 10 points in the win. 

Thunder Basin’s Deegan Williams netted 21 points. Kayden LaFramboise added 11 points and Bodie Williams scored seven points. 


Yankton 79, Campbell County (Wyo.) 51

MITCHELL — Yankton used a balance scoring attack to power past Campbell County in boys basketball action at the Hoop City Classic on Tuesday. 

Jaden Kral led the Bucks with 18 points and Cody Oswald added 17 points. Drew Ryken tossed in 10 points, while Rugby Ryken added eight points. Michael Mors and Mac Ryken scored seven and five points, respectively. 

Campbell County’s Jason Fink finished with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Jace Walter added seven points, while Rylan Robertson scored six points. Aiden Petersen and Austin Crimm scored five points apiece.

 

Bridgewater-Emery 58, Waubay/Summit 41

MITCHELL — Bridgewater-Emery used a 16-4 second-quarter run to pull away from Waubay/Summit in a boys basketball contest on Tuesday at the Hoop City Classic.

Bridgewater-Emery’s Sam Hofer poured in a game-high 25 points, including three 3-pointers. Sutton Arend added 11 points, while Camdyn Stoterau finished with nine points. Aaron Horvath scored six points. 

Waubay/Summit’s Damon Opdahl scored 16 points. Sonny Marquart finished with eight points and Jackson Wohlleber scored seven points. Jonathan Johnston had six points. 

 

Thunder Basin (Wyo.) 61, Mitchell 45

MITCHELL — Thunder Basin topped Mitchell in a girls basketball contest at the Hoop City Classic on Tuesday. 

Joelie Spelts led the Bolts with 22 points. Laney McCarty added 14 points, while Kambel Cox netted eight points. Eagan Clark and Kinley Solem scored seven and five points, respectively. 

Mitchell’s Sawyer Stoeber tossed in 15 points, while Lauren VanOverschelde scored 13 points. Sarah Sebert scored nine points.
