SIOUX FALLS — The Ipswich girls and Philip boys sit atop the Class B team standings after Day 2 of the state track and field meet.

The Ipswich girls hold a narrow lead with 35 points, ahead of Northwestern (30) and Dell Rapids St. Mary (28). The Philip boys maintained their lead in the team scores with 42 points, ahead of Bennett County (31) and Mitchell Christian (26).

Ipswich’s Jalyssa Hutson secured 10 points for the Tigers with a state title in the pole vault (11-01).

Isabella Galbraith (11:33.97) and Madisyn Gelhaus (11:35.71) added 11 points with a third and fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run.

Marley Guthmiller took seventh in the 800-meter run (2:20.40) for two more points.

For the Philip boys, Jack Peterson (9:48.01) and Baylor Burns (10:03.03) combined for 12 points in the 3,200-meter run with a second and fifth-place finish, respectively. Burns also collected six team points with a third-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:58.80).
