VOLGA — Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker and Madison’s Dylan Gerdes each won individual titles at Tuesday’s Sioux Valley Invitational cross-country meet contested at the Meadow Creek Golf Course. 

Bloker, the defending Class A state champion, ran the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes and :27.36 seconds, well ahead of Flandreau’s Faith Wiese (18:13) and Clark/Willow Lake’s Kamryn Nesheim (19:02). Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan (19:28) and Sioux Valley’s Liberty Trygstad (19:38) rounded out the top-five athletes. 

Madison’s Dylan Gerdes won the boys race finishing his 5,000-meter race in 16:27, ahead of Estelline/Hendricks’s Cooper Schafer (16:56) and Sioux Valley’s Carson Wosje (17:21). Flandreau’s Brenton Westberry (17:49) and Clark/Willow Lake’s Cooper Pommer (17:55) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

A very competitive girls team race Tuesday as Sioux Valley scored 21 points, ahead of Flandreau (32) and Clark/Willow Lake (38). Deuel (68) and Madison (78) rounded out the top-five teams. 

A very tight boys team race as Madison with 39 points edged Estelline/Hendricks (40) and Flandreau (44). Great Plains Lutheran (57) and Deuel (61) rounded out the top-five boys teams.
