Jan. 11 Boys Basketball Roundup - Kadoka Area clips Stanley County at Jones County Invitational

Kadoka Area 76, Stanley County 68 

MURDO — Garrett Herman and Gus Stout combined for 50 points to pace Kadoka Area to a Jones County Invitational boys basketball win on Thursday. 

Herman finished with 27 points, while Stout tossed in 23 points. Kole Hermann recorded 12 points. Jared Nemecek and Mason Stilwell scored five points apiece.

For Stanley County, Broch Zeeb netted 22 points and Paxton Deal added 16 points. Eddie Duffy scored nine points on three 3-pointers. Kaden Montana scored eight points and Wyatt Mortenson added six points. 


White River 93, Colome 41

MURDO — Nic Marshall scored 36 points as White River earned a Jones County Invitational boys basketball win on Thursday.

Marshall also scored his 1,000th career point, dished out nine assists and grabbed four rebounds. Mackenzie Wike added 16 points and three assists. Ray Crow totaled 12 points and five assists. Jordan Uhlir logged nine points, six assists and five rebounds. Evastine Wright had eight points, three rebounds and three assists. Teagen Bouman added six points, while Tristen Bear Heels had seven rebounds. 

For Colome, Joseph Laprath scored 18 points. Jack Anderson and Jonah Musser scored eight points apiece. Seth Heath scored five points. 


Philip 56, Bennett County 25

MURDO — Philip used a 22-0 third quarter to help secure a Jones County Invitational boys basketball tournament win on Thursday.

Philip’s Lane Kuchenbecker finished with 12 points, while Layton Terkildsen had 10 points. Bryce Westby scored eight points. Jess Jones and Tyan Schofield had six points apiece. Talon Haynes and Brit Morrison scored five points apiece. 

For Bennett County, Shooter Frederick scored nine points. Devon Featherman had eight points and Caysen Soderlin scored six points. 


Jones County 77, Lyman 41

MURDO — Jones County pulled away from Lyman for a Jones County Invitational boys basketball tournament win on Thursday.

Jones County’s Kaden Kinsley poured in 25 points and hit eight 3-pointers. Cooper Feddersen finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jett Nix scored 13 points. Asa Best posted 10 points and Gunnar Whitney had five points. Best added nine rebounds. 

For Lyman, Jonas Zirpel recorded 14 points. Dawsen Volmer and M.J. Diehm scored nine points apiece. Canyon Garnos and Chace Seaboy scored five points apiece. 


Custer 60, St. Thomas More 46

CUSTER — Custer snapped a 14-game losing streak against St. Thomas More in boys basketball action on Thursday. It was Custer’s first win over STM since 2014

Custer’s Rett Lowe recorded 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kincade Lehman had 10 points. Kyle Virtue finished with nine points, five assists and four rebounds. Drew Lehman had six points, while Cody Dirkes had five rebounds. Roland Sedlacek had eight points and eight rebounds. Carter Boyster posted four points and five rebounds.

For STM, Baron Slusarski had 10 points and seven rebounds. Wyatt Gylten added eight points. Holden Griswold posted six points and three rebounds. Lee Neugebauer had six points and five rebounds. Chase Donnelly logged five points. Peyton Young had five rebounds. 


Castlewood 68, Great Plains Lutheran 38

WATERTOWN — Class B No. 1 Castlewood picked up a 30-point boys basketball win on Thursday.

Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt finished with 19 points. Jamison Keszler logged 12 points, while Luke Baumberger had 11 points. Bryon Laue posted 10 points and six rebounds. Quincy Thu and Bowen Ryan scored five points apiece.

For GPL, Alex Heil had 11 points. Austin Rubendall had nine points. Martin Krenz had seven points and Myles York scored six points. 


Crow Creek 60, Mobridge-Pollock 55 

MOBRIDGE — Crow Creek clipped Mobridge-Pollock in boys basketball action on Thursday.

Crow Creek’s Mickael Bernard finished with 11 points, four assists and four rebounds. Lance Wind Jr., had 10 points and four rebounds. Kiron Thompson finished with nine points, six rebounds and three assists. Kingston Big Eagle had eight points, while Bryson Drapeau and Oscar Walking Elk scored seven points apiece. Jason Thompson had six points. 

For Mobridge-Pollock, Jackson Eisemann finished with 16 points and three steals. Shane Henderson added 14 points and 13 rebounds. Kale Knudson posted 10 points and four rebounds. Michael Wald and Unique White Twin scored seven points apiece. 


Dell Rapids St. Mary 71, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 36

RUTLAND — Class B No. 5 Dell Rapids St. Mary coasted past Oldham-Ramona-Rutland for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Dell Rapids St. Mary’s Maverick LeBrun finished with 24 points, while Trevon Beckman added 23 points. Nic Gaspar added eight points.

ORR’s Caden Hojer scored 12 points. 


Elkton-Lake Benton 69, Arlington 38

LAKE BENTON, Minn. — Three players scored in double figures to pace Elkton-Lake Benton to a boys basketball win on Thursday.

ELB’s Eliot Erickson finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Tanner Drietz logged 14 points and eight rebounds. Colt Beck had 10 points. Tanner Stein had eight points and five rebounds. Carson Griffith finished with six points and six boards. Blake DeVries had six rebounds and four points. Jackson Smallfield had five rebounds. 

For Arlington, Paxton Rheault logged 19 points. 


Platte-Geddes 71, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton 41

PLANKINTON — Platte-Geddes picked up a boys basketball win over Mt. Vernon/Plankinton on Thursday.

MVP’s Zach Baker finished with 23 points, while Tyce Feistner had seven points. Dylan Rihanek had six points and six rebounds. 

Platte-Geddes stats were not reported. 


Madison 52, Flandreau 47

MADISON — Three players scored in double figures to pace Madison to a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Madison’s Ben Brooks recorded 13 points and three rebounds. Charles Callahan and Adonis Rodriguez scored 11 points apiece. Callahan had four rebounds. Elijah Sims had five points and five rebounds 

For Flandreau, Paul Parsley finished with 13 points, three 3-pointers and three rebounds. Xavier Bien logged 12 points, all on 3-pointers. Luke Sheppard and Kody Kneebone scored nine points apiece. 


Milbank 75, Redfield 30 

MILBANK — Milbank jumped out to a 22-7 first-quarter lead en route to a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Milbank’s Garrett Mertens finished with 20 points and three 3-pointers. Joe Schulte added 17 points, while Jackson Wildung had seven points and eight rebounds. Sam Rick and Esteban Abrego-Gonzalez scored six points apiece. Graham Lightfield had five points.

For Redfield, Tristen O’Daniel had 13 points and five rebounds. Grady Hulscher logged eight points. Seth Domke posted five points, while Justin Ratigan had four points and five boards.
