Freeman 51, Wessington Springs 48 

MITCHELL — David Walter’s 3-pointer with four seconds left lifted Class B No. 7 Freeman to a boys basketball win over Class B No. 5 Wessington Springs at Saturday’s 44th annual Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

Walter totaled 16 points, three rebounds, three 3-pointers and three assists. Tate Sorensen finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Tayden Kerrigan added 10 points and six rebounds. Luke Miller totaled six points and six rebounds.

For Wessington Springs, Karter Mebius and Parker Graff scored 14 points apiece. Mebius added six boards. Colby Flowers finished with 12 points and 12 boards. Luke Larson scored five points.


Lennox 51, St. Thomas More 49 

MITCHELL — Class A No. 9 Lennox edged Class A No. 4 St. Thomas More at Saturday’s 44th annual Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

Lennox’s Aiden Hanssen scored 15 points and added seven rebounds. Cole Spieler totaled 10 points. Drake Mikkelsen added eight points and six rebounds. Tate Gerdes had seven points and seven rebounds. 

For STM, Wyatt Gylten had 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Ashton Paulsen added 10 points and four rebounds. Max Speed had six points and 10 rebounds. Broeden Sales had five points and three rebounds. 


Hamlin 57, Viborg-Hurley 39

MITCHELL — Jackson Wadsworth and Boden Stevenson powered Class A No. 6 Hamlin to a boys basketball win over Class B No. 1 Viborg-Hurley at Saturday’s 44th annual Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

Wadsworth finished with 20 points, while Stevenson totaled 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Jack Stormo had five points and six rebounds. Trig Heinrich scored eight points, while Aiden Abraham had four points and five boards.

For VH, Brady Schroedemeier totaled 23 points, four rebounds and four assists. Jake Austin recorded seven points and five assists. Nolan Kolthoff added six points. 


White River 50, Hanson 47

MITCHELL — White River edged Hanson for a boys basketball win at Saturday’s 44th annual Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

White River’s Maddox Marshall recorded 19 points and five 3-pointers. Bryson One Star added 13 points, five assists, five rebounds and three 3-pointers. Kreg Stoddard totaled six points. 

For Hanson, Jett Jager posted 13 points and nine rebounds. Radek Jarding tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Conner Endorf had 10 points and nine rebounds. Cole Dewald finished with seven points, six rebounds and six assists. 


Dakota Valley 58, Sioux Valley 54

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures as Dakota Valley clipped Sioux Valley for a boys basketball win at Saturday’s 44th annual Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

DV’s Tatum Sorensen finished with 23 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Aaron Bruns added 15 points and four steals. Luke Anema totaled 10 points and three rebounds. Cash Slater added eight points and three rebounds. 

For SV, Connor Relf recorded 19 points and hit three 3-pointers. Brady Hiltunen added 17 points, five 3-pointers and four rebounds. Carter Sapp finished with eight points and 11 rebounds. Bret Milton added eight points, four rebounds and three assists. 


Parkston 56, Lyman 49

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to power Class B No. 10 Parkston past Lyman at Saturday’s 44th annual Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace.

Parkston’s Mason Jervik finished with 18 points and three assists. Grady Bowar added 17 points, five 3-pointers and three rebounds. Brycen Bruening totaled 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals. 

For Lyman, Josiah Vaad scored 13 points and hit three 3-pointers. Cole Kieffer finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. MJ Diehm had nine points and three assists. Dawsen Volmer scored seven points. 


Miller 51, Gregory 42

GREGORY — Oliver Fritsche and Will Resel powered Miller to a boys basketball win over Gregory on Saturday.

Fritsche finished with 18 points and Resel added 17 points. Derek Brueggeman had 10 points. 

Gregory’s Colt Keiser had 18 points and nine rebounds. Lincoln Juracek totaled 16 points. 


Estelline-Hendricks 63, Gayville-Volin 43

COLMAN — Three players scored in double figures as Estelline-Hendricks knocked off Gayville-Volin at Saturday's Dakota Valley Conference Classic.

Drayden Cokens led the Redhawks with 19 points, Kyler Carlson added 17 points, Cade Hexem collected 11 points while Larkin Schultz tallied six points in the win

For GV, Preston Karstens tallied 14 points, Will Fairley added 12 points while Nate Selchert and Wyatt Mehlhaf each netted six points in the loss.


De Smet 81, Dawson-Boyd (Minn.) 80

COLMAN — Grant Wilkinson exploded for 44 points as Class B No. De Smet picked up a Dakota Valley Conference Classic win Saturday.

Wilkinson finished with 44 points, going over 1,000 points for his career in the win. Noah Luethmers and Carter Wilkinson each had 11 points while Slayten Wilkinson totaled seven points for the Bulldogs.


Hills-Beaver Creek (Minn.) 62, Sully Buttes 57

COLMAN — Class B No. 4 Sully Buttes fell to Hills-Beaver Creek, Minnesota, at Saturday's Dakota Valley Conference Classic.

SB's Jett Yackley led the Chargers with 21 points, Wesley Wittler added 19 points while Easton Moore collected nine points in the loss.
