Boys basketball

De Smet 82, Arlington 53

DE SMET — Class B No. 1 De Smet used a 21-11 third quarter to pull away from Arlington for a boys basketball victory on Friday. 

Kalen Garry powered the Bulldogs with 26 points, seven rebounds, three 3-pointers and three blocked shots. Blake Van Regenmorter recorded a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double. Van Regenmorter drilled four of De Smet’s 10 3-pointers and had a team-high three steals. Damon Wilkinson added an 11-point, 14-rebound double-double. Rett Osthus logged 10 points, nine assists and four rebounds. Tory Holland contributed seven points and six boards. 

Arlington’s Ryker Erstad finished with 25 points, five 3-pointers, five rebounds, four steals and four assists. Caden Letsche logged 21 points and hit five 3-pointers. Britt Carlson scored seven points. 


Deuel 84, Redfield 61

REDFIELD — Deuel used a 29-14 fourth quarter to pull away from Redfield in a boys basketball game on Friday.

Deuel’s Cooper Schiernbeck recorded a game-high 30 points, while Trey Maaland scored 18 points. Nathan Lovre and Braydon Simon added 15 points and 12 points, respectively.

Redfield’s Peyton Osborn tallied 20 points, while Mitchell Mack scored 12 points and Nolan Gall added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.


Bridgewater-Emery 74, Freeman 26

EMERY — Four players scored in double figures as Bridgewater-Emery coasted to a boys basketball victory over Freeman on Friday. 

Sam Hofer led the Huskies with 21 points and seven rebounds. Aguer VanSickle added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Sutton Arend logged 14 points and 11 boards. Camdyn Stoterau added 10 points.


Burke 54, Centerville 49

CENTERVILLE — Burke used a 16-9 fourth quarter to edge Centerville in a boys basketball game on Friday.

Bryce Frank scored a game-high 21 points and Ben Witt added 16 points to pace the Cougars. Brogan Glover added seven points and five boards. Nick Nelson collected eight boards.

Centerville’s Logan Bobzin scored 15 points and five rebounds, while Cole Edberg added 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.


Ethan 62, Wessington Springs 55

ETHAN — Ethan pulled away from Wessington Springs for a boys basketball victory on Friday. 

Ethan’s Jay Storm recorded a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double. Kody Klumb added 18 points and seven rebounds. Kaden Klumb logged 11 points, while Riley Endres had 10 points and four assists.  

Wessington Springs’ Mason Schelske finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Blake Larson logged 12 points and 10 boards. Cade Mohling finished with eight points, while Brock Krueger had six points and five assists. 


Langford Area 52, Herreid/Selby Area 47

LANGFORD — Langford Area outlasted Herreid/Selby Area for a boys basketball victory on Friday. 

Jesse Keough led the Lions with 18 points and seven rebounds. Ben Gustafson followed with 15 points and eight boards. Kassen Keough scored nine points, while Jackson Bahr added six points. 

HSA’s Tray Hettick tossed in 16 points, while Trevor Sayler scored 11 points. Brenden Begeman scored eight points and Chance Gregg netted six points. 


Mitchell 69, Yankton 55

MITCHELL — Class AA No. 5 Mitchell allowed four second-quarter points to help put away Yankton for a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Caden Hinker led the Kernels with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Dylan Soulek added 15 points, while Steele Morgan scored 14 points and grabbed six boards. Charlie McCardle had 10 points and five rebounds. 

Yankton’s Dylan Prouty scored 15 points, while Jaden Kral had 13 points. Cody Oswald chipped in with 11 points and six boards. Rugby Ryken and Drew Ryken scored eight and six points, respectively. 


Northwestern 68, Britton-Hecla 42

MELLETTE — Northwestern used a 21-9 third quarter to surge past Britton-Hecla for a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Jude Ortmeier led the Wildcats with 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Nathan Melius finished with 10 points. Quintin Fischbach added seven points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Fatafehi Faonelua and Christopher Toennies scored eight and six points, respectively. Samuel Groft had seven rebounds and four assists. Rush Larson grabbed six boards. 

Britton-Hecla’s Aiden Fredrickson finished with nine points and six assists. BoDell Davidson, Dawson Treeby and Landon Carlson scored seven points apiece. Davidson added five rebounds and five assists. Luke Storley had five points. 


Warner 64, North Central 39

ROSCOE — Warner earned a boys basketball win over North Central on Friday.

Peyton Jung led the Monarchs with 13 points. Hunter Cramer, Trekk Hannahs, and Devin Woosley scored eight points apiece.

Bryce Beitelspacher led the Thunder with 15 points, while Dawson Walz scored eight points.


Deubrook Area 71, Lake Preston 44

WHITE — Deubrook Area ran past Lake Preston for a boys basketball win on Friday.

Deubrook Area’s Andrew Trooien scored 20 points, while Nick Bowne recorded 19 points.

Lake Preston’s Riley Casper scored 16 points, while Josh McMasters tallied 14 points. 


McCook Central/Montrose 57, Baltic 40

VOLGA — McCook Central/Montrose earned a boys basketball win over Baltic at the Big East Conference Tournament on Friday.

Cody Miles scored 22 points, seven steals, and five assists, while Boston Katzer recorded eight points and Carter Jandl had seven points. Micah Van Ruler and Gavin Gordon each collected eight rebounds.

Baltic’s Jack Erickson recorded 12 points and seven rebounds. Mark Ditter tallied seven points, while Corbin Wirkus added six points.


Sioux Valley 62, Chester Area 39

VOLGA — Class A No. 2 Sioux Valley jumped out to a 21-2 first-quarter lead and rolled to a boys basketball win at the Big East Conference Tournament on Friday. 

Oliver Vincent led the Cossacks with 24 points, six rebounds and five 3-pointers. Alec Squires added 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Hayden Ruesink and Dylen Milton scored nine points apiece. Ruesink collected 12 rebounds. 

Chester Area’s Ashton Olivier hit four 3-pointers for 12 points. Jovi Wolf followed with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Stratton Eppard recorded seven points and five assists. Brock Wages netted five points, while Ryan Benson had six rebounds and four assists. 


Tea Area 63, Madison 61

MADISON — Tea Area built a 32-16 halftime lead and held off Madison for a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Jeff Worth led the Titans with 24 points, including 6 of 10 from the 3-point line. Cael Lundin recorded 17 points and four rebounds. Jonah Kocer and Cole Schilling scored six points apiece. 

Madison’s Nate Ricke recorded 18 points and nine rebounds. Aiden Jensen logged 14 points, while Mickale Dohrer added 11 points. Aspen Dahl and Peyton Wolf scored nine and seven points, respectively. 


Dell Rapids St. Mary 53, Estelline/Hendricks 47

ESTELLINE — Dell Rapids St. Mary held off Estelline/Hendricks for a boys basketball win on Friday.

Dylan Mathis led the Cardinals with 15 points. Ty Brown and John Pica scored nine points apiece.

The Redhawks’ Braxton Saathoff scored a game-high 21 points and five rebounds. Dawson Bury recorded 17 points, five rebounds, four steals, and three assists, while Joe McAninch tallied seven points, five rebounds, and two steals.


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 60, Watertown 49

WATERTOWN — Class AA No. 2 Sioux Falls O’Gorman picked up an 11-point boys basketball win over Watertown on Friday. 

Matthew Eng led O’Gorman with 28 points. 

Watertown’s Drew Norberg netted 21 points. 


Girls basketball 

Wagner 59, Bon Homme 24 

TYNDALL — Class A No. 4 Wagner jumped out to a 34-8 halftime lead and coasted to a girls basketball win over Bon Homme on Friday. 

Emma Yost led Wagner with 23 points and scored her 1,000th career point. Lydia Yost netted 15 points. 

Bon Homme’s Olivia Bures finished with eight points and six rebounds. Jurni Vavruska and Erin Heusinkveld had seven points apiece. Heusinkveld added eight rebounds and Vavruska had three steals. 


Centerville 48, Burke 35

CENTERVILLE — Centerville broke a 10-10 first quarter tie to win a girls basketball game over Burke on Friday.

Lillie Eide scored 10 points and four steals, while Keira Austin tallied nine points. Sophie Eide scored eight points and Thea Gust added seven points, five rebounds, and three assists. Bailey Hansen collected 18 rebounds.

Burke’s Paige Bull scored a game-high 14 points and eight rebounds, while Elly Witt tallied 11 points.


Vermillion 43, Parkston 37

PARKSTON — Vermillion broke a 15-15 halftime tie to pick up a road win over Parkston in a girls basketball game on Friday.

Brooke Jensen led Vermillion with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Kasey Hanson and Brooklyn Voss each scored 11 points.

Parkston’s Abby Hohn scored 12 points, while Allison Ziebart and Faith Oakley each added seven points.


Dakota Valley 71, Viborg-Hurley 55

HURLEY — Class A No. 5 Dakota Valley used a 25-14 third quarter to pull away from Viborg-Hurley in girls basketball action on Friday. 

Dakota Valley’s Rylee Rosenquist tossed in a game-high 27 points. Peyton Tritz added 15 points, while Brooke Carlson scored 12 points. 

Viborg-Hurley’s Charley Nelson recorded 15 points and Estelle Lee added 12 points. Coral Mason added nine points and six assists. Delana Mach added eight points, while Denae Mach had seven points and six boards. 


Deuel 45, Redfield 36

REDFIELD — Deuel used a 19-9 final quarter to pull away from Redfield for a girls basketball victory on Friday. 

Deuel’s Haley Winter finished with 13 points, while Harley Hennings and Jaylyn Bury scored 11 points apiece. 

Redfield’s Katie Rozell recorded 17 points and five rebounds. Camryn Rohlfs added six points and eight boards. Ashlyn Clausen netted five points and Teryn Jandel grabbed six rebounds. 


Beresford 52, McCook Central/Montrose 40

BERESFORD — Three players scored in double figures to lead Beresford to a girls basketball win over McCook Central/Montrose on Friday. 

Ella Merriman finished with 15 points, while Ady Hansen had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kara Niles netted 10 points. 

MCM’s Michaela McCormick scored 17 points and Carly Katzer tossed in 14 points. 


Brandon Valley 62, Brookings 43

BRANDON — Hilary Behrens poured in 29 points to pace Class AA No. 2 Brandon Valley to a girls basketball win over Brookings on Friday. 

Kylie Foss finished with 13 points, while Kennedi Deckert and Taylor Stemen scored five points apiece. 

Brookings’ Landree Wilson netted 10 points, while Ainsley Shelsta added 10 points. Logan Smidt scored eight points.  


Deubrook Area 58, Lake Preston 27

WHITE — Deubrook Area ran past Lake Preston for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Kadence Bowne, Brooke Koppatschek, and Skyla Peterson each scored nine points. Emma Vandermeer added eight points and four assists.

Lake Preston’s Faith Steffensen recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.


Iroquois/Doland 42, Sunshine Bible Academy 26

MILLER — Iroquois/Doland pulled away from Sunshine Bible Academy for a girls basketball win on Friday. 

Iroquois/Doland’s Rebecca Bich led the way with 20 points, while Kera Dubro added six points, 17 rebounds and five steals. Anna Decker had six points, seven rebounds and four steals. Harley Nelson added five points. 

SBA’s Jakki Burma recorded 12 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Aja Paul logged nine points and 10 boards. Lydia Lo and Liza Konechne added eight and seven rebounds, respectively. 


Warner 64, North Central 31

ROSCOE — Warner raced past North Central to earn a girls basketball win on Friday.

Warner’s Kyra Marcuson recorded 17 points, while Peyton Fischer tallied 10 points. Jennifer Aman and Lauren Marcuson scored nine points apiece.

North Central’s Jenisa Jacobs tallied 13 points and Brittany Frickson scored nine points.


Highmore-Harrold 54, Sully Buttes 50 (OT)

HIGHMORE — Highmore-Harrold outlasted Sully Buttes in overtime to win a girls basketball game on Friday.

Grace Knox recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Letha Jessen scored 12 points. Maddie Knox tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, and four assists and Courtney Moser added nine points. Emilee Schied dished out five assists.

Sully Buttes’ Allyson Wittler scored 14 points, while Lydia Hill tallied 11 points. Stevie Wittler and Tailynn Bradford scored nine and eight points, respectively.


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 61, Watertown 33 

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 3 Sioux Falls O’Gorman coasted to a girls basketball win over Watertown on Friday. 

O’Gorman’s Bergen Reilly scored a team-high 12 points, while Hannah Friedman had 12 points. Hannah Ronsiek and Kira Mentele scored 10 points apiece. 

Watertown’s Jaida Young scored nine points. 


Great Plains Lutheran 45, Waubay/Summit 41

WATERTOWN — Great Plains Lutheran edged Waubay/Summit in a girls basketball game on Friday.

GPL’s Olivia Holmen scored 12 points and nine rebounds. Halle Bauer, Madeline Prahl, and Mali York each tallied eight points. York also dished out six assists.

Waubay/Summit’s Kailee Berger and Tasha Zirbel each scored 10 points, while Livia Tomac recorded nine points.
