Chamberlain 54, Miller 53

CHAMBERLAIN — Chamberlain erased a 17-point third-quarter deficit and clipped Miller in boys basketball action on Thursday.

Chamberlain, which trailed 44-27 after three quarters, received 17 points from Blaze Knippling. Kansas Honomichl-Rouse recorded12 points. Tel Hawk added seven points and Miles His Law scored six points. Grady Olson had five points.

For Miller, Isaak Hunter netted 21 points and Derek Brueggeman scored 15 points. Oliver Fritzschke scored nine points and Will Resel had eight points. 

 

Wessington Springs 58, Wolsey-Wessington 56

HURON --- Parker Graff poured in 35 points as Wessington Springs rallied from a 25-point third-quarter deficit and won the boys 281 Conference championship on Thursday.

Graff finished 11-of-19 from the field, 4-of-7 at the 3-point line and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. He added five steals. Karter Mebius scored nine points, while Colby Flowers recorded eight points and four rebounds. The Spartans trailed by 25 points with 2:46 left in the third quarter, and outscored the Warbirds 27-9 in the fourth quarter. 

For WW, Caleb Richmond and Larz Tvedt scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds apiece. Moshe Richmond had 12 points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Sabalier had six points and five boards. 


Hanson 56, Canistota 53

CANISTOTA — AJ Wilber and Ben Wilber combined for 35 points as Hanson slipped past Canistota in boys basketball action Thursday. 

AJ Wilber powered Hanson with 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Ben Wilber scored 14 points while Sutton Dewald and Tye Hernandez combined for 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

Brady Scott led Canistota with 21 points and eight rebounds while Easton Miller had 12 points, three rebounds and seven assists. 


Sioux Falls Christian 74, Vermillion 61

VERMILLION — A balanced scoring attack helped Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian pull away late for a high school boys basketball victory.

Brant Wassenaar led the Chargers with 18 points, Griffin Goodbary tallied 17 points, Cole Snyder had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Cooper Goodbary recorded nine points and eight rebounds in the win.

Vermillion’s Trey Hansen had 34 points in the loss, while Carter Hansen tallied 15 points and seven rebounds as well.


Dell Rapids 43, Madison 37

MADISON — Three players scored in double figures for Dell Rapids in its boys basketball victory over Madison Thursday.

Lincoln Anderson tallied 13 points, Tad Tjaden totaled 12 points and three rebounds, Karson Paye had 10 points and three steals, while Jack Kloth had six points and seven rebounds in the win.

Madison’s Myles Schneider collected 11 points and five rebounds, Ben Brooks totaled 13 points and five rebounds, while Henry Veenhof brought down nine rebounds in the loss.


Howard 48, Bridgewater-Emery 45

HOWARD — Howard edged Bridgewater-Emery for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Howard’s Carson Hinker finished with 17 points, while Kolt Becker and Luke Koepsell scored seven points apiece. Lucas Feldhaus and Brody Spader added six points apiece. Austin Severson scored five points.

For Bridgewater-Emery, Ben Weber scored a game-high 18 points and Macklen Weber added 15 points. Holden Wollmann scored nine points.


Elkton-Lake Benton 70, Colman-Egan 65

ELKTON — Joseph Nibbe and Tanner Drietz combined for 46 points during Elkton-Lake Benton’s narrow victory over Colman-Egan Thursday.

Nibbe and Drietz each combined for 23 points in the win while Colt Beck and Eliot Erickson added seven points apiece as well.

CE’s Jackson Zwart totaled 21 points, Jase Mousel had 18 points, Taylor Kriech had 11 points while Jack Mouel tallied 10 points in the loss.


Sanborn Central-Woonsocket 60, Iroquois-Lake Preston 38

HURON — Three players scored in double figures during Sanborn Central-Woonsocket’s victory to take third place at the 281 Conference tournament.

Payton Uecker led with 14 points and five rebounds, McCoy Schulz added 11 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists, while Landon Jensen totaled 10 points and six assists in the win.

ILP’s Lucas Peskey tallied 18 points and four steals, while Ervin Carter brought down eight rebounds in the loss.


James Valley Christian 56, Highmore-Harrold 51

HURON — Jerrad Wallman’s 28 points powered James Valley Christian to a consolation championship at the 281 Conference boys basketball tournament.

Wallman finished with 28 points, Jayven Van Scharrel tallied 10 points, while Huntley Steele totaled nine points in the win.

HH”s Brooks McPeak poured in 26 points, three rebounds and two steals, Jordan Erfman totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Aidan Ferens added nine points in the loss.


Hitchcock-Tulare 69, Sunshine Bible Academy 50

HURON — Patrick Maynard’s 34-point burst lifted Hitchcock-Tulare over Sunshine Bible Academy for seventh place at the 281 Conference boys basketball tournament.

Maynard finished with 34 points and seven rebounds, Devin Enander tallied 12 points, three steals and three assists, Preston Wipf had 10 points, while Deegan Moes and Kaiden Weinreis each had six rebounds in the win.

SBA’s Trey Thieman led with 23 points, three steals and three assists, Tarrence Mickelson totaled eight points, three rebounds and two assists, while Owan Watson had seven points and five rebounds in the loss.


Viborg-Hurley 73, Baltic 42

VIBORG — Three players scored in double figures during Class B No. 3 Viborg-Hurley’s victory over Baltic Thursday.

Nick Hansen powered the Cougars with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Braydyn Morrison totaled 15 points, while Brady Schroedermeier tallied 13 points and four assists in the win.

Baltic’s Ben Erickson had 16 points while Kellen Artz and Dylan Runestad each recorded 11 points in the loss.


Winner 55, Bennett County 24

WINNER —- A big night from Carter Craven helped Winner pick up a win over Bennett County in boys basketball action Thursday. 

Craven finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and three blocks. Shawn Hammerbeck scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Aiden Schroeder chipped in with seven points. 

Jonathan Tallman led Bennett County with seven points. 


Freeman 73, Scotland-Menno 37

FREEMAN — Three players scored in double figures as Freeman ran past Scotland-Menno in boys basketball action Thursday. 

Tate Sorensen led Freeman with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. David Walter finished with 17 points and four rebounds while Luke Peters chipped in with 14 points and three rebounds. 

Trent Guthmiller led Scotland-Menno with 15 points and three rebounds. 


Waubay/Summit 43, Aberdeen Christian 41

SUMMIT — Waubay/Summit slipped past Aberdeen Christian for a boys basketball win on Thursday. 

Traveion Neilan led Waubay/Summit with 17 points. Hogan Hlavacek also reached double figures with 12 points. 

Brooks Jett led Aberdeen Christian with 18 points. 


Groton 58, Milbank 43

MILBANK — Three players scored in double figures as Groton took down Milbank during Thursday’s boys basketball action.

Ryder Johnson led with 19 points and seven rebounds, Gage Sippel totaled 13 points and five rebounds, Keegan Tracy had 10 points and three steals, while Becker Bosma recorded nine points and six rebounds in the win.

Milbank’s Lincoln Holscher totaled 12 points and six rebounds, Bryan Meyer had 10 points, while Sam Rick collected eight points in the loss.


Castlewood 63, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 21

OLDHAM — Class B No. 1 Castlewood used a balanced-scoring attack to pick up a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Castlewood’s Jamison Keszler finished with 15 points and Brody Bass added 12 points. Luke Baumberger and Bryon Laue scored eight points apiece. Bennett Johnson scored six points.

For ORR, Brodie Albertson scored eight points and Boyd Pooler scored seven points.


Clark-Willow Lake 60, Aberdeen Roncalli 29

CLARK — A balanced scoring attack pushed Clark-Willow Lake past Aberdeen Roncalli during Thursday’s high school boys basketball action Thursday.

Emmerson Larson led the Cyclones with 15 points and six rebounds, Chris Bevers had 14 points and four steals, Bo Begeman recorded a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Sully Felberg had 12 points and seven rebounds in the win.

AR’s Jesse Hernandez tallied eight points while Brody Weinmeister and Bryson Olson each had five points in the loss.


North Central 56, Herreid/Selby Area 36

EUREKA — A balanced scoring attack helped North Central pick up a win over Herreid/Selby Area in boys basketball action Thursday. 

Kobe Wherry led North Central with 18 points. Cole Beitelspacher notched 11 points while Tim Rucker and Donovan Nelson combined for 17 points in the win. 

Freshman Tatum Quaschnick led Herreid/Selby Area with 12 points. 


Parkston 65, Bon Homme 31

PARKSTON — Parkston improved to 10-1 after upending Bn Homme during Thursday’s high school basketball action.

Brycen Bruening led the Trojans with 24 points, four rebounds and three assists, James Deckert added 18 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Drew Braley and Mason Jervik each collected five points in the win.

BH’s Major Aarstad and Logan Stark each totaled eight points, while Tyton Ranek had six points in the loss


Hamlin 87, Redfield 24

HAYTI — Three players powered Class A No. 2 Hamlin to a high school boys basketball victory Thursday.

Zac Van Meeteren led with 18 points, Jackson Wadsworth tallied 17 points, Easton Neuendorf totaled 15 points, while Evan Stormo and Boden Stevenson each had eight points in the win.

Redfield’s Ruben Alvarez led the Pheasants with 13 points in the loss.


Deuel 89, Tiospa Zina 30

CLEAR LAKE — Gabe Sather’s 25-points powered Deuel to a high school boys basketball victory over Tiospa Zina Thursday.

Sather finished with 25 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals, Caden Finnesand added 15 points and seven rebounds, Kyle Finnesand tacked on 14 points and three steals, Nolan Gubrud totaled nine points and four rebounds, Gavin Maaland had eight points and three assists, while Sutton Benck added seven points in the win.

TZ’s Ashden Sierra led with 18 points, four steals and three rebounds, while Eric Jens Jr. had four points and five rebounds in the loss.


Gregory 61, Kimball-White Lake 27

KIMBALL — Gregory took down Kimball-White Lake during Thursday’s high school boys basketball action.

Gregory’s stats were not reported.

KWL’s Park Sinclair led with 12 points, Cooper Leiferman tallied five points, four rebounds and three steals, while Jay Dee Gough totaled five points and seven rebounds in the loss.


Sioux Valley 58, Deubrook Area 43

WHITE — Sioux Valley pulled away from Deubrook Area for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Sioux Valley’s Maverick Nelson finished with 19 points and Carter Sapp added 12 points. Braden Danzeisen had 10 points and Brady Hiltunen scored seven points.

For Deubrook Area, Charlie Schoenfeld scored 11 points and Isaac Gass added eight points. Josh Moberg and Braxton Bednarek scored seven points apiece. Axel Trooien scored five points.
