Colman-Egan 65, Howard 59 (OT) 

HOWARD — Reese Luze hit a 3-pointer to force overtime and Colman-Egan pulled away from Howard for a girls basketball victory on Monday. 

The Hawks, who outscored the Tigers 8-2 in overtime, received 23 points and eight rebounds from Mackenzie Hemmer. Josie Mousel added 18 points and six boards, while Lanie Mousel netted seven points. Luce, whose 3-pointer came with 12 seconds left in regulation, scored six points. Hailey Larson added six points and six rebounds. 


Howard’s Abby Aslesen finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kate Connor added 14 points, while Canyon Kidd tossed in 13 points. Rylee Rudebusch scored 11 points. Jayden Jaynes added five points, while Trinity Palmquist had five assists and four rebounds. 

Avon 65, Colome 13

AVON — Three players scored in double figures in Avon’s girls basketball win over Colome on Monday. 

Courtney Sees stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six steals. Samantha Brodeen added 15 points and nine assists. Tiffany Pelton posted 11 points, six steals and five boards. McKenna Kocmich and Katie Gretschmann had nine and seven points, respectively. Gretschmann added five steals, while Lila Vanderlei had five rebounds and four points. 

Colome’s Toree Ringing Shield scored five points and grabbed six rebounds. 


De Smet 45, Deuel 31

CLEAR LAKE — Kennadi Buchholz had a big game to help lead De Smet past Deuel in a girls basketball game on Monday.

Buchholz finished with 23 points, while Emma Albrecht added nine points.

Haley Winter led Deuel with 17 points and five rebounds. Josie Anderson and Jalyn Bury scored six points each. Emma Hamann added six boards.


Baltic 66, Elkton-Lake Benton 52

ELKTON — Three players scored in double-figures as Baltic picked up a girls basketball win over Elkton-Lake Benton on Monday.

Baltic’s Berklee Erickson scored 17 points, while Sami Polzin recorded 16 points. Cami Artz added 13 points and six rebounds.

The Elks were led by Kylie Ramlo’s double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rachael Krog scored 16 points and eight rebounds, while Tevan Erickson added nine points and four steals. 


Boys basketball

West Central 60, Dell Rapids 51

HARTFORD — West Central outlasted Dell Rapids for a Dakota XII Conference boys basketball win on Monday. 

West Central’s Grafton Stroup scored a game-high 22 points, to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Braden Herr added 11 points and four rebounds. Jacob Krempges logged eight points, eight assists and four steals. Braden Dierickx recorded seven points. 

Landon Ruesink led Dell Rapids with 18 points. Shane Stone scored 11 points, while Jack Henry added 11 points. 


De Smet 74, Deuel 37

CLEAR LAKE — Three players scored in double-figures as Class B No. 1 De Smet raced past Deuel for boys basketball win on Monday.

Kalen Garry led all scorers with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Tory Holland recorded 17 points and five rebounds. Damon Wilkinson added 13 points.

For Deuel, Gavin Benck recorded 13 points and five boards, while Cooper Schiernbeck added eight points.

Howard 80, Colman-Egan 32

HOWARD — Howard jumped out to a 33-15 halftime lead and cruised to a boys basketball win over Colman-Egan on Monday. 

Kolt Koepsell led the Tigers with 23 points, while Luke Koepsell tossed in 11 points. Jace Sifore netted 10 points and Ryder Erickson scored nine points. Brayden Hinker and Colby Claussen scored seven and six points, respectively. 

Colman-Egan’s Ben Zwart tossed in 10 points, while Austin Gullickson scored seven points. Sawyer Uhing added five points. 


Avon 60, Colome 49

AVON — Avon held off Colome for a Monday basketball win. 

Lincoln Thury led the Pirates with 17 points and five boards. Eli Watchorn added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Kley Heumiller logged 11 points and five rebounds. Riley Rucktaeschel finished with eight points and four rebounds. 

Colome stats were not reported. 


Northwestern 70, Waverly-South Shore 58

WAVERLY — Northwestern used a 22-10 second-quarter run to help put away Waverly-South Shore for a boys basketball win on Monday. 

Northwestern’s Quintin Fischbach scored a game-high 21 points, while Jude Ortmeier added nine points. Samuel Groft netted eight points, while Justin Haven and Nathan Melius scored six points apiece. Jamal Gallego scored five points.

Waverly-South Shore’s Cooper Schmit scored 17 points and Landon Maag added 16 points. Carter Comes tossed in 11 points and Troy Kneeland logged eight points.
