SIOUX FALLS — Pierre’s Jared Lutmer and Brandon Valley’s Mia Wentzy captured individual titles at Saturday’s Eastern South Dakota Conference cross-country meet at Yankton Trail Park. 

Lutmer posted a personal best on the 5,000-meter course with a winning time of 15 minutes and 19.9 seconds, ahead of Brandon Valley’s Mikah Peters (15:36) and Yankton’s Dylan Payer (15:43). Aberdeen Central’s Joseph Perkins (16:01) and Brookings’ Ernest Ting (16:08) rounded out the top-five boys finishers.

Wentzy ran her best race of the season 18:09, ahead of Harrisburg’s Hannah Gerlach (18:32) and Brandon Valley’s Addison Scholten (18:36). Brandon Valley’s Sarah VanDeBerg (18:48) and Watertown’s Grace McElroy (18:48) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

The Brookings boys won the conference title scoring 67 points, just in front of Aberdeen Central (69) and Yankton (82). Brandon Valley (98) and Pierre (107) rounded out the top-five team finishers. 

The Brandon Valley girls dominated the girls team competition with five athletes finishing in the top-seven. The Lynx posted a score of 21, ahead of Harrisburg (44) and Watertown (102). Pierre (107) and Aberdeen Central (134) rounded out Saturday’s top-five team finishers.
