Volga Cormorants 18, Clark Traders 17 (10 innings)

CLARK — The Volga Cormorants overcame a five run deficit in the ninth inning to come from behind and win an Eastern Dakota League amatuer baseball game over the Clark Traders on Friday.

Noah Puetz led the Cormorants on the mound, allowing one hit and zero runs in two innings, while striking out one. Trevor Olson started the game for the Cormorants, pitching 2 â…” innings and allowing four runs on four hits, while striking out two.

The Cormorants racked up 21 hits, with Parker Puetz recording five hits in six at bats. Puetz also had a ninth inning grand slam and drove in eight runs. Austin Buysse tallied four hits, while Chase Ringheimer, Zach Puetz, Tyson Sonnenburg, Noah Puetz, and Nate Gonnelly each had two hits. Zach Puetz drove in three runs, while Noah Puetz and Ringheimer each drove in two runs. Sonnenburg added one RBI.

Tyler Brinka took the loss for the Traders, lasting 1 â…” innings and allowing two hits and one run, while striking out one. Wesley Jones started the game for the Traders, giving up ten runs on 12 hits in six innings, while striking out eight.

The Traders recorded 14 hits, with Grayson Florey and Rhett Florey each tallying three hits.

Rhett Florey also drove in six runs, stole four bases, and had a third inning grand slam. Bradyn Rusher and Jay Huber each had two hits. Grayson Florey and Wesley Jones each drove in two runs.


Milbank Firechiefs 16, Aurora Aces 180 2

MILBANK — The Milbank Firechiefs raced past Aurora Aces 180 for an Eastern Dakota League amateur baseball win on Friday.

Dom Boerger picked up the win for the Firechiefs, allowing two hits and two runs in seven innings, while striking out 13.

The Firechiefs tallied 16 hits, with Brady Krause going 5-for-5 at the plate. Boerger and Lance Frogner each added three hits. Boerger drove in five runs, while Frogner drove in four runs and Krause drove in three runs. Travis Lester drove in two runs.

Curt Anderson took the loss for Aurora Aces 180, pitching 3 â…“ innings while allowing ten runs on 12 hits and striking out three.

Eli Mork and John Koenig each had one hit to lead Aurora Aces 180. Mork also drove in two runs.


Castlewood Ravens 9, Castlewood Monarchs 7

CASTLEWOOD — The Castlewood Ravens held off the Castlewood Monarchs for an Eastern Dakota League amateur baseball win on Friday.

Alex Gauer took the win for the Ravens, allowing four hits and two runs in 5 â…“ innings, while striking out six. Tucker Wookey started the game for the Ravens, lasting 3 â…” innings and allowing seven hits and five runs, while striking out three.

Gauer, Peyton Johnston, Braxton Lacher, and Nick Geffre each had two hits for the Ravens. Geffre and Zach Hirsch each had two RBI.

Josh Cleveland took the loss for the Monarchs, pitching 3 â…” innings and allowing nine runs on 11 hits, while striking out six and walking one.

The Monarchs totaled 11 hits, with Cleveland, Dawson Schmidt, and Parker Schmidt each recording two hits. Dawson Schmidt had three RBI, while Adam Ching added two RBI. 


Platte Killer Tomatoes 5, Corsica/Stickney Horned Frogs 4 (10 innings)

CORSICA — The Platte Killer Tomatoes edged the Corsica/Stickney Horned Frogs in a Sunshine League amateur baseball game on Friday.

Grant Doom took the win for the Killer Tomatoes, giving up zero runs on zero hits in 2 â…” innings, while striking out six and walking one. Owen London started the game for the Killer Tomatoes, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out six in 7 â…“ innings.

Richard Sternberg led the Killer Tomatoes with three hits in five at bats, while Sheldon Gant, Hayden Kuiper, and Ryan Allen each had two hits. Allen drove in two runs, while Kuiper and Gant drove in one run apiece. Gant also had one home run.

Caleb Crist took the loss for the Horned Frogs, allowing ten hits and five runs in ten innings, while striking out 14.

Kris Menning went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Horned Frogs in hits.
