July 11 Legion Baseball Roundup - Dakota Valley tallies 16 runs in win over Elk Point-Jefferson

Dakota Valley 16, Elk Point-Jefferson 7

ELK POINT — Dakota Valley scored seven runs in the first inning to pull away from Elk Point-Jefferson in a Legion baseball game on Monday.

Ethan Anema took the win for Dakota Valley, allowing one run on one hit, while striking out three in 3 ⅓ innings.

Jackson Strawn led Dakota Valley with three hits in five at bats and three RBI. Anema, Ashton Pick, Brayden Major, and Jaxon Hennies each had two hits. Anema, Isaac Klemme, and Beau Jones each had two RBI.

Christian Mueller took the loss for Elk Point-Jefferson, allowing eight hits and ten runs in 4 ⅓ innings.

Ty Trometer led Elk Point-Jefferson with two hits in four at bats, while Hunter Geary added two RBI.


Sturgis Post 33 Titans 4, Spearfish Post 164 2

STURGIS — The Sturgis Post 33 Titans picked up a Legion baseball win over Spearfish Post 164 on Monday.

Owen Cass took the win for Sturgis Post 33, allowing six hits and two runs, while striking out seven in seven innings.

David Anderson led Sturgis Post 33 with three hits in four at bats and one RBI. Cass had two RBI.

Hogan Tystad took the loss for Spearfish Post 164, pitching five innings and allowing six hits and three runs, while striking out four.

Ty Sieber and Braden Ericks led Spearfish Post 164 with two hits apiece. Ericks also had one RBI.

Spearfish Post 164 won game two, 10-1.


Big Stone City 7, Castlewood Post 250 5

BIG STONE CITY — Big Stone City held off Castlewood Post 250 for a Legion baseball win on Monday.

Josh Mueller picked up the win for Big Stone City, allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings, while striking out eight.

Dru Boots, Carter Lee, and Jasper Tweeter each had two RBI.

Xander Sheehan took the loss for Castlewood Post 250, allowing five hits and six runs in two innings, while striking out one.

Jackson Schofield, Kegan Tvedt, and Jeremiah Wiersma each had two hits to lead Castlewood Post 250. 

Castlewood Post 250 won game 2 by a score of 12-6.


Salem 14, Parkston Post 194 1

PARKSTON — Salem raced past Parkston Post 194 for a Legion baseball win on Monday.

Gavin Gordon picked up the win for Salem, allowing one run on five hits in six innings, while striking out five.

Gordon and Bobby Koepsell each had two hits and three RBI, while Raygen Randall added two RBI.

Ty Neugebauer took the loss for Parkston Post 194, allowing five runs on one hit in four innings, while striking out four.

Caden Donohue and Jay Storm led Parkston Post 194 with two hits, while Donohue also had one RBI.


Garretson 17, Baltic Post 175 3

BALTIC — Garretson scored eight runs in the seventh inning to pull away from Baltic Post 175 for a Legion baseball win on Monday.

Isaiah Gnadt took the win for Garretson, allowing two runs on two hits in 3 ⅓ innings, while striking out five and walking one.

Garretson tallied 14 hits, with Taysen Swatek had three hits in five at bats and two RBI, while Jayse Miller, Ryan Flanagan, and Colby Buseman each had two hits and one RBI.

Caleb Kittelson took the loss for Baltic Post 175, allowing three runs on one hit.

Colbe Scott, Riley Schultz, Hunter Larson, and Beau Keith each had one hit. Scott, Keith, and Schultz each had one RBI.


Dell Rapids Post 65 12, Madison 4

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids raced past Madison in a Legion baseball game on Monday.

Aiden Boechler took the win for Dell Rapids Post 65, allowing four runs on five hits in five innings, while striking out one.

Dell Rapids tallied 13 hits, with Treyse Eastman and Brayden Pankonen collecting three hits apiece. Boechler and Landon Ruesink each had two hits. Will Jaton totaled three RBI and Ruesink added two RBI.

Aiden Jensen took the loss for Madison, allowing seven runs on eight hits, while striking out one in 2 ⅓ innings.

Trey Smith led Madison with three hits in four at bats, while Mason Kennington added two hits and one RBI.


Wolfe Electric Wildcats (Neb.) 14, Watertown Post 17 1

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Watertown Post 17 dropped a Legion baseball game against the Wolfe Electric Wildcats (Neb.) at the Gopher Classic on Monday.

Kyle Karst took the loss for Watertown Post 17, allowing five runs on nine hits in three innings, while walking one.

Jack Heesch led Watertown Post 17 with one hit in two at bats, while Drew Denzer drove in one run.
