Plankinton Gold Sox 14, Colome Chaos 10

PLANKINTON — The Plankinton Gold Sox outlasted Colome Chaos in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball contest on Thursday. The teams combined for 30 hits and 24 runs. 

Plankinton’s Griffin Tobin finished with four hits and drove in three runs. Jesse Grosdidier added three hits and three RBI. Andrew Becker and Sean DeVries had two hits and two RBI apiece. Cooper Carter, Tom Harris, Thomas Stange and Devin Mehlhaff each had a hit. Mehlhaff drove in two runs.

Harris struck out six batters, allowed eight hits, four runs (two earned) and walked one batter in his seven-inning start.

Colome’s Ben Connot, Jackson Kinzer, Sid Bice, Braden Gardner and Shea Connot each had two hits. Ben Connot hammered a solo home run and finished with two RBI. Jake Luse, Korey Harris, Jason Frasch, Dalton Baker and Carter Brickman each had hits. Brickman took the loss after allowing eight hits, seven runs (five earned), struck out seven batters and walked three in his six-inning start.

Alexandria Angels 10, Dimock-Emery Raptors 0 

ALEXANDRIA — Tyson Gau crushed two home runs and Jed Schmidt struck out nine batters to lift Alexandria to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Gau finished 3 of 4, drove in four runs, hit a solo homer and a two-run shot. Pierce Smith added three hits and two RBI. Peyton Smith and Aaron Wenande both had two hits. Michael Schoettmer, Jordan Gau, Blake Klinkhammer and Schmidt each had hits. Schoettmer drove in two runs, while Peyton Smith knocked in a run. 

Schmidt allowed four hits and two walks on 101 pitches through his seven-inning start. 

For Dimock-Emery, Peyton Nash had two hits. Phil Johnson and Doug Sudbeck each had a hit. Nash allowed eight hits, four earned runs, walked two batters and struck out two batters in his four-inning start to take the loss. 


Platte Killer Tomatoes 16, Parkston Mudcats 0 (6 innings)

PARKSTON — Platte piled up 12 hits in just six innings to secure a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday. 

Ryan Allen led Platte with three hits and three RBI. Preston Nedved added two hits and smacked a three-run homer. Michael Buitenbos had two hits and drove in a run. Sheldon Gant, Richard Sternberg, Grant Doom, Hayden Kuiper and Derek Soukup each had a hit. Gant and Kuiper each drove in two runs. Kelby VanDerWerff earned the win after allowing five hits, no runs, three walks and struck out four batters in his six-inning start. 

Parkston’s Jeff Harris, Nate Doering, Dillon Stadlman, Landon Sudbeck and Justin Devine each had hits. Jake Weber allowed eight hits, nine runs (six earned) and struck out four batters in his 3.2-inning start. 


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 5, Plankinton Bankers 2

KIMBALL — Zak Wallner struck out 14 batters to power Kimball/White Lake to a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win over the Plankinton Bankers on Thursday.

Wallner allowed nine hits, one earned run and zero walks on 138 pitches. He added two hits on offense. 

Jesse Kroupa finished with three hits and two RBI. Caden Lenz had two hits, while Trent Wookey, Dylanger Pierson, Ethen Gaulke, Dylan Konechne and Wes Kroupa each had hits. 

For Plankinton, Travis Gant, Austin Hauge and Drew Gerlach had two hits apiece. Trevor Boyd, Cole Knippling and Trevor Salmonson each had hits. Gant gave up 10 hits, four earned runs, struck out seven batters and walked one in his seven-inning start. Alex Loes took the loss after giving up two hits, one run and struck out one batter in one inning of relief. 


Chamberlain Mallards 13, South Central Storm 11

CHAMBERLAIN — Chamberlain edged South Central in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball game on Thursday. 

Dakota Munger and Kyle Forester each had two hits and four RBI. Adam Schroeder, Ryan Randall, Ian Anderson and Sandler Wiekamp each had hits. Michael Schwartz allowed 11 hits, seven runs (six earned), walked three and struck out five batters in his five-inning start. 

South Central’s Ben Witt and Hunter Van Niewenhuyse had three hits apiece, while Van Niewenhuyse drove in three runs. Jaden Frank and Cole Christopherson had two hits apiece. Christopherson struck out five batters, allowed two hits, two earned runs and two walks in his four-inning start.


Canova Gang 16, Hartford/Humboldt Woodducks 1

CANOVA — Canova picked up a Cornbelt League amateur baseball win over the Hartford/Humboldt Woodducks on Thursday.

Justin Miller finished three hits, including a homer. Tim Gassman and Kendall Gassman had two hits apiece. Derek Miller earned the win for the Gang.
