July 15 Legion Baseball Roundup - Salem scatters 15 hits and 14 runs in win over Alexandria

SALEM — Salem raced past Alexandria for a Legion baseball win on Friday.

Braeden Kerkhove took the win for Salem, pitching three innings and allowing five hits and four runs, while striking out three.

Salem scattered 15 hits, with Raygen Randall leading the way with four hits. Bobby Koepsell, Gavin Gordon, and Trey Claussen each added two hits. Koepsell led with three RBI, while Gordon, Kyle Schoon, and Joe Loudenburg each added two RBI.

Jayden Kayser took the loss for Alexandria, allowing nine hits and seven runs in three innings, while striking out two.

Hunter Robinson, Bodie Burnham, and Jake Doyle led Alexandria with two hits apiece. Robinson, Riley Haynes, and Keenan Waldera each drove in one run.


Renner Royals Post 307 7, Dell Rapids Post 65 2

RENNER — Renner Royals Post 307 scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull away from Dell Rapids Post 65 in a Legion baseball game on Friday.

Emanuel Struck took the win for the Renner Royals, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five in six innings.

Quinn Dunham, Leo Hueners, and Preston Konechne each had two hits to lead the Renner Royals. Hueners had three RBI, while Trey Heckenlaible tallied two RBI and Dunham added one RBI.

Brayden Pankonen took the loss for Dell Rapids Post 65, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out one in 2 ⅓ innings. Will Jaton started the game for Dell Rapids Post 65, allowing six hits and two runs in three innings.

Landon Ruesink led Dell Rapids Post 65 with two hits in three at bats, while Jaton and C.J. Smith each had one hit and one RBI. Smith had one home run in the second inning.


Madison Post 25 6, Hartford 118/Humboldt 62 1

HUMBOLDT — Madison Post 25 picked up a Legion baseball win over Hartford 118/Humboldt 62 on Friday.

Nathan Ricke took the win for Madison Post 25, allowing zero runs on one hit in 2 ⅔ innings, while striking out five.

Mike Peters led Madison Post 25 with three hits and two RBI, while Trey Smith added two hits and two RBI. 

Owen Heath took the loss for Hartford 118/Humboldt 62, allowing four hits and three runs in 1 ⅔ innings, while striking out three. Seth Gabbert started the game for Hartford 118/Humboldt 62, allowing three hits and three runs in 2 ⅔ innings, while striking out two.

Deuce Sherard led Hartford 118/Humboldt 62 with two hits in three at bats.


Post 15 East 10, Post 22 Hardhats 5

RAPID CITY — Post 15 East doubled up the Post 22 Hardhats for a Legion baseball win on Friday.

Myles Rees picked up the win for Post 15 East, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out three in four innings.

Mason Tolrud led Post 15 East with four hits, while Rees, Cael Swanson, Andrew Glovich, and Lincoln Vasgaard each added two hits. Glovich also had four RBI, including one home run in the second inning.

Jadon Moreno took the loss for the Post 22 Hardhats, giving up eight runs on seven hits in two innings.

Mars Sailer led the Post 22 Hardhats with three hits and one RBI, while Zeke Farlee added two hits and two RBI.


Rapid City Post 320 Stars 8, Sioux Falls Post 15 West 3

RAPID CITY — The Rapid City Post 320 Stars scored six runs in the third inning to pull away from Sioux Falls Post 15 West in a Legion baseball game on Friday.

James Rogers led the Post 320 Stars on the hill, allowing six hits and two runs in 6 ⅓ innings, while striking out six.

Ryan Rufledt, Jett Wetzler, and Gavyn Dansby each had two hits to lead the Post 320 Stars. Dansby and Bryan Roselles each had two RBI.

Treyson Harty-Olson took the loss for Post 15 West, giving up eight runs on seven hits in three innings, while striking out five.

Ryan Rysavy led Post 15 West with three hits, while Jordan Kinzer added two hits.

The Post 320 Stars also won game 2, 7-3.


Post 1 10, Baltic Post 175 0

VERMILLION — Post 1 earned a shutout win over Baltic Post 175 on Friday.

Jake Jensen took the victory on the mound for Post 1, pitching four innings and allowing zero runs on two hits, while striking out three.

Jensen, Willis Robertson, Jack Kratz, T.J. Tracy, Connor Saunders, and Charlie Ward each tallied one hit for Post 1. Jensen drove in three runs, while Ward drove in two runs.

Riley Schultz took the loss for Baltic Post 175, allowing three hits and five runs, while striking out three in one inning.

Schultz, Jose Valadez, and Beau Keith each had one hit to lead Baltic Post 175.


Aberdeen Smittys Junior Legion 16, Mobridge Post 4 5

MOBRIDGE — The Aberdeen Smittys scored nine runs in the first inning to pull away from Mobridge Post 4 for a Legion baseball win on Friday.

Jacob Weishaar earned the win for the Aberdeen Smittys, allowing eight hits and five runs in four innings, while striking out two.

The Aberdeen Smittys racked up 17 hits, with Cooper Eisenbeisz, Jackson Welke, Avery Ligon, and Lance Siefken each tallying three hits. Weishaar and Talan Duttenhoeffer each added two hits. Welke led with three RBI, while Weishaar and Siefken totaled two RBI apiece. Eisenbeisz, Ligon, Duttenhoeffer, and Thomas Stickelmyer each added one RBI.

Holden Eisemann took the loss for Mobridge Post 4, pitching 1 ⅓ innings and allowing nine runs on nine hits and striking out one.

Mobridge Post 4 tallied 11 hits, with Eisemann, Jackson Eisemann, and Collin Tisdall each tallying two hits.


Canova Gang 4, Garretson 1

CANOVA — The Canova Gang scored four runs in the sixth inning to earn a come-from-behind win over Garretson in a Legion baseball game on Friday.

Griffin Clubb took the win for the Canova Gang, giving up zero runs on zero hits in three innings, while striking out four. Jack Neises started the game for the Canova Gang, surrendering two hits and one run in three innings, while striking out six.

Clubb led the Canova Gang with two hits in three at bats, while Neises and Lane Miller added one hit apiece. Miller also had two RBI.

Ryan Flanagan took the loss for Garretson, allowing four runs on zero hits in ⅓ of an inning, while striking out one. Jayse Miller started the game for Garretson, allowing zero runs on three hits in four innings, while striking out one.

Flanagan, Dylan Kindt, and Jake Schroeder each had one hit to lead Garretson. Schroeder also had one RBI.


Parkston Post 194 6, Tabor Post 183 3

TABOR — Parkston Post 194 used a five run first inning to pull away from Tabor Post 183 for a Legion baseball win on Friday.

Jay Storm picked up the win for Parkston Post 194, allowing three runs on four hits in 3 ⅓ innings, while striking out three and walking one.

Jeff Schnabel, Logan VanPelt, Max Scott, and Caden Donahue each had two hits for Parkston Post 194. Schnabel totaled three RBI, while Scott, Donahue, and Luke Bormann each added one RBI.

Nolan Dvorak took the loss for Tabor Post 183, giving up nine hits and six runs in three innings, while striking out three.

Trent Herrboldt, Dawson Bietz, Dustin Honomichl, and Riley Rothschadl each had two hits for Tabor Post 183. Herrboldt, Rothschadl, and Nolan Carda each had one RBI.


Platte/Geddes WhiteCaps 8, Menno/Scotland Trappers Post 152 1

PLATTE — The Platte/Geddes WhiteCaps raced past the Menno/Scotland Trappers Post 152 for a Legion baseball win on Friday.

Dawson Hoffman led the Platte/Geddes WhiteCaps on the mound, allowing zero runs on one hit, while striking out five and walking one.

Aiden Bultje and Jackson Neuman led Platte/Geddes with two hits apiece. Bultje, Dakota Munger, Grayson Hanson, Carter Lenz, and Tanner Dyk each had one RBI.

Treyton Sayler took the loss for the Menno/Scotland Trappers, allowing five hits and four runs in three innings.

Brayden Sattler, Ajay Herrboldt, Zach Fox, and Austin Pillsbury each had one hit for Menno/Scotland.
