Plankinton 6, Chamberlain 4

PLANKINTON — Devin Mehlhaff struck out eight batters as Plankinton picked up a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Mehlhaff allowed seven hits, four earned runs and walked three batters in seven innings. Cain Tobin, Sean DeVries and Austin Hauge had two hits apiece. DeVries belted a solo home run. 

For Chamberlain, Evan Stiener and Riggs Priebe had two hits apiece. Priebe drove in two runs. Adam Schroeder took the loss after allowing two hits, two earned runs, zero walks and zero strikeouts in one relief inning. 


Plankinton 13, Chamberlain 6

PLANKINTON — Plankinton used a seven-run fifth inning to help secure a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Ryland DeVries struck out nine batters, allowed 10 hits, three earned runs and walked two batters in seven innings. 

Griffin Tobin, Cain Tobin, Blaine Bohr, Austin Hauge, Thomas Stange, Sean DeVries, Devin Mehlhaff and Dylan Gerlach each had hits. Stange and Gerlach drove in two runs apiece. 

For Chamberlain, Dakota Munger had three hits and drove in five runs. Adam Schroeder and Evan Stiener had two hits apiece. 


Alexandria 11, Parkston Devil Rays 1 (7 innings)

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria scored 11 unanswered runs to secure a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Tyson Gau blasted a three-run homer, while Cole Wenande, Erik DeJong, Peyton Smith and Jacob Giles each had hits. DeJong drove in two runs. Ethan Davis picked up the win after seven strikeouts, one hit allowed and one earned run allowed through seven innings. 

Josh Polreis had Parkston’s lone hit. Jay Storm took the loss after allowing three earned runs, five walks and struck out two batters in his four-inning start. 


Winner/Colome 11, Platte 2 

WINNER — Winner/Colome pulled away from Platte for a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Derek Graesser finished with three hits and drove in a run. Dillon Lambley and Drew DeMers had two hits apiece. Lambley drove in two runs, while DeMers had an RBI. Reed Harter and Ben Witt drove in two runs apiece. Zach Harter and Trevor Salmonson each had hits. J.J. Farner earned the win after allowing nine hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out four batters in a complete-game performance. 

For Platte, Hunter Hewitt had two hits. Richard Sternberg, Sheldon Gant, Ryan Allen, Jarod Severson, Jimmy DeWaard, Preston Nedved and Michael Buitenbos each had hits. Buitenbos took the loss after allowing seven hits, five earned runs, four walks and struck out three batters in his six-inning start.  


Mount Vernon 17, Corsica-Stickney 5 (7 innings)

CORSICA — Spencer Neugebauer and Brady Albrecht hammered home runs as Mount Vernon picked up a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Corsica-Stickney on Sunday. 

Neugebauer finished 4 of 5 and drove in six runs, including a grand slam in the fourth inning. Albrecht went 2 of 5 and knocked in four runs, including a three-run homer in the second inning. Koby Larson and Luke Tiesler had three hits apiece, with Larson driving in four runs. Bradley Dean, Deric Denning, Briggs Havlik, Cam Deinert and Kade Bialas each had hits. Bialas earned the win after allowing nine hits, four earned runs, one walk and struck out four batters in his six-inning start.

For Corsica-Stickney, Ryan Buck had three of the team’s nine hits. Luke Bamberg, Lee Niewenhuis, Sean Pinkerton, Kris Menning, Blake Moke and Lincoln Huff each had hits. Buck took the loss after allowing six hits, seven earned runs, two walks and struck out one batter in his two-inning start. 


Dimock-Emery 9, Menno 7

MENNO — Dimock-Emery collected 14 hits en route to a non-league amateur baseball win over Menno on Sunday. 

Sam Arend had two hits and drove in three runs. Drew Kitchens and Gene Kitchens had two hits and an RBI apiece. Peyton Nash, Phil Johnson, Sam Pischke, Josh Engquist, Steve Ernster, Doug Sudbeck, Bryce Smart and Aaron Gilchrist each had hits. Sudbeck earned the win after allowing four hits, zero earned runs and struck out four batters in three relief innings. 

For Menno, Macon Oplinger had two hits. Dylan Lehr, Dustin Livingston, Jacob Schott and Preston Gall each had hits. 


Four Corners 13, Colome 10

HAYES — Four Corners used a four-run sixth inning to pull away from Colome for a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Sunday. Four Corners also defeated Colome, 11-1, in the other game of the doubleheader. 

Brad Hand and finished with two hits and two RBI apiece. Andrew McCloud added two hits and an RBI. Andrew Coverdale earned the win after allowing four hits, four earned runs, four walks and struck out three batters in four relief innings. 

For Colome, Hunter Van Nieuwenhuyse and Aaron Vomacka both hit home runs. Van Nieuwenhuyse finished 3 of 4 and drove in five runs. Vomacka went 2 of 4 and knocked in three runs. Joey Cole had two hits. Kevin Carter took the loss after surrendering four runs (zero earned) on four hits, while striking out nine and walking zero batters. 


Castlewood Ravens 18, Milbank 9

MILBANK — The Castlewood Ravens racked up 20 hits en route to an amateur baseball win over Milbank on Sunday. 

Nate Phinney and Braydon Zaug drove in five runs apiece. Phinney finished with four hits, while Zaug had three hits. Zach Hirsch had three hits and drove in three runs, while Gus Stieger added three hits. Tucker Wookey earned the win, giving up five hits, four runs and striking out four batters in four innings. 

For Milbank, Mitch Quade and Merik Junker had three hits apiece, while Junker drove in five runs and hit a home run. Kellen Hoeke took the loss after allowing 16 hits, 11 earned runs, three walks and struck out eight batters in his seven-inning start. 


Kimball/White Lake 1, Wessington Springs 0

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Kimball/White Lake edged Wessington for a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Zak Wallner finished with two hits and drove in the lone run. Eathan Gaulke also had two hits, while Trent Wookey and Jaxon Christensen each had hits. 

For Wessington Springs, Cade Mohling, Terrek Butterfield and Camden Jost each had hits.
