July 20 Legion Baseball Roundup - Rosenquest's walk-off hit lifts Dakota Valley past Elk Point Jefferson in extra innings

Dakota Valley 7, Elk Point Jefferson 6, 8 innings 

Randy Rosenquist's base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Dakota Valley to a eight-inning walk-off win over Elk Point Jefferson on Wednesday. 

Elk Point took a 4-1 lead after three innings before Dakota Valley added two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. Elk Point would add two runs in the top of the seventh to tie it at 6 before Dakota Valley added the run in the eighth. 

Rosenquist hit was the only hit for him on the day while Jackson Strawn, Jaxon Hennies, Garrett Anderson, Jackson Boonstra and Beau Jones all had multiple hits for Dakota Valley. 

Castlewood Post 250 6, Big Stone City 3 

Castlewood took a 3-0 lead after three innings and never looked back for a win over Big Stone City on Wednesday. 

Jeremiah Wiersma picked up the win for Post 250, pitching 5â…“ innings, giving up three runs on nine hits. He struck out three and walked three while throwing 96 pitches. 

Wiersma added two hits including a triple to lead Castlewood at the plate. 

Watertown 17, Post 15 2 

Watertown scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning and cruised to a six-inning win over Sioux Falls Post 15 Wednesday. 

Marcus Rabine, Bryce Hult and Ryan Roby all had hits during an eight-run fifth inning for Post 17. 

Kyle Karst picked up the win, pitching four innings, giving up three hits while pitching 49 pitches. 

Groton 20, Warner 3 

Groton scored nine runs in both the first and second innings for a five-inning win over Warner on Wednesday. 

Kaleb Hoover, Pierce Kettering and Cole Simon led Groton at the plate while Dillon Abeln picked up the win. Abeln pitched two innings, giving up a hit while striking three and walking one on 28 pitches. 

Winner 3, Gregory 2 

Winner scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to hold off Gregory on Wednesday. 

Pierce Nelson led Winner with a pair of hits while Ethan Bartels pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out four on 97 pitches. 

Bryce Frank took the loss for Gregory, pitching six innings, giving up three runs on six hits. He struck out three and walked on 73 pitches. 

Redfield 18, Clark/Willow Lake 2 

Redfield opened the floodgates in the second inning with seven runs en route to a win over Clark/Willow Lake on Wednesday. 

Erik Salmen, Keaton Rohfls, Kellan Hurd, Nolan Gall and Owen Osborn led Redfield at the plate. 

Osborn picked up the win, pitching three innings while giving up a run on three hits on 40 pitches. 

Milbank 13, Castlewood 3 

Milbank scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning and added  runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth for a 10-run victory on Wednesday. 

Bryce Lamp, Karson Weber, Mike Karges and Merrick Junker led Milbank at the plate. 

Isaac Schulte pitched 4â…” innings, giving up three runs on five hits. He struck out 11 and walked three while throwing 90 pitches. 

Madison 14, Garreston 11 

Garrettson watched a 9-4 lead everaperate in the late innings as Madison scored five runs in sixth and seventh innings for a win on Wednesday. 

Trey Smith tripled in the seventh and drove in six runs to cap the come-from-behind win. He ended the night going 3-for-5. 

Platte-Geddes 14, Menno/Scotland 4 

Platte-Geddes took a 9-4 lead after four innings and never looked back en route to a win on Wednesday. 

The Whitecaps were led at the plate by Dakota Munger who finished the day going 3-for-4 at the plate including a double in the first inning. 

Groton 26, Wessington Springs 13 

Down 7-5 going into the top of the fifth inning, Groton scored 16 runs in the inning to cruse to victory on Wednesday. 

Andrew Marzahn led Groton at the plate with two hits while driving in four runs, while Pierce Kettering, Kaleb Hoover, Ryan Groeblinhoff added hits. 

Gregory 15, Mobridge 5 

Gregory took an 8-3 lead after two innings and never looked back en route to a win over Mobridge on Wednesday. 

Murray Glover, Sawyer Tietgen, Rylan Peck had multiple hits to lead Gregory.
